American Airlines tug
« on: December 16, 2011, 11:18:37 am »
Hi All.
Firstly, let me say I've just purchased KJFK and KORD and they are beautiful pieces of work! Absolutely love them both. However, I've got a small problem which I suspect is not just me as it occurs at both airports and is the only problem I have.
There is an American airlines tug in the active FSDT apron fleet which has the ability to levitate! The tug procedes normally but has no wheels. I've tried a search to see if anyone else has spotted this but with no luck. I'm surprised  I'm the first. I don't think this is just a problem I've got.

I have the same problem.  It   wheels around the airport with no wheels.  I've got all the updates, but no wheels.  Since American Airlines is now in bankrupcy, I guess the tire supplier is not delivering any more rubber to them:)

Do you have the SmallPartsRejectRadius tweak set to an high value ? Try to set it a 2 or 1 (1 it's default) and see if the wheels come back.

Same problem here. It is still present with the KORD V2 update.

I'm sorry, but we checked, and we can't reproduce the problem, maybe it's a graphic memory corruption problem, try to use with different settings of the HIGHMEMFIX setting. Relaunch FSX before trying with a new setting.

Hi All.
I thought I'd just post to say that I've recently changed my PC and on the new system this problem has gone. I realise this probably doesn't help those others who have the issue very much other than that it does seem to occur with a particular system set up. I was running FSX deluxe with sp1 & sp2 using vista 64 bit and a GTX580 graphics card. The new set up of FSX gold with acceleration pack, W7 pro and a GTX680 and the no wheeled tug was back rolling along.

Is there a way to disable all ground animated traffic by removing a file?

You mean default ground traffic ? Wouldn't be easier to simply set its slider in the Graphic settings to minimum ??

No, that is set at None in my system.  I'm talking about the tugs and vans that cruise around FSDreamteam ramps and I'm constantly running them over.  Also, removing these in previous versions and other sceneries tends to increase my frame rate by 3-5fps.

Thanks,

Lower your Scenery Complexity settings, and vehicles will progressively disappear.

I have this problem as well and confirm that this problem is also present at KDFW.
However, some flights ago I saw that moving closer the tug its wheels suddenly appeared, then disappeared again when moving far from it. Maybe it can help the solution.
I don't remember the value of SmallPartsRejectRadius in my FSX.cfg, but I will give a look.
Bye.
