I am trying the trial before I buy the product. When ever I start a free flight at the airport, the game freezes once the green banner of the trial pops up on top. This happens everytime. I hope its not like this if I buy the product. What could it be?

Surely it's not like this in the purchased product but, of course, not even in the Trial, we would have been flooded by reports if it was like that!

Try the following:

- Start a flight from another airport (not necessarily an FSDT one, any default airport will do, provided is far from KLAX)

- Open the Addon Manager menu and deselect the "Force HD textures" option.

- Exit from FSX cleanly, relaunch it and try KLAX.

Try this first, and see if it makes any difference.

Unrortunately, these steps do not fix the problem. The game crashes when I start on any runway. Could the fact that I have other sceneries installed also affect the issue?

Do you have other FSDT sceneries installed ? Do they work, or they crash too ?

I had DFW and Hawaii Vol 2. I uninstalled those with the add on manager just incase they were the problem, but they worked fine.

No, it shouldn't, try the Event Viewer, you should be able to see the FSX crash reports with details in the Windows Event Viewer, which is located on the Control Panel under the system admin tools section.

Ok, at least this tells that what is failing is part of the MS Visual C++ runtimes, which gets installed with FSX, but with many other products too (90% of the Windows product use them)

Have a look at this thread that show the same error:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=3828.0

I've suggested some solution that you might try first, but the user fixed his problem by reinstalling FSX. The issue, apparently, was caused because he removed the original 2005 runtimes that came with FSX. In your case you might have not removed it manually, but it might have been corrupted somehow.

I ended up doing a System Restore. This solved the problem. The scenery is great, and I am exited to buy it. I just saw something strange. On 25R, there is a set of lead in lights on at the beginning of the runway, right next to the yellow taxi line. I just took off from LAX last week and I am sure that it does not really exist there. Is this a mistake? Other than that, it looks fantastic.

Thanks Umberto!

I just had one more question. I had BluePrint LAX installed prior to this. Everytime I start FSX I get a scenery.cfg error that states that it can't find the area. I tried deleting the scenery.cfg with no luck. Any suggestions?

You should remove the orphaned area using the Scenery Library menu in FSX.

I'm not sure what you are referring to, the white-yellow flashing wig-wag at the hold short zones ? I'm not sure if they are placed at each and every hold short, but I have seen real world videos showing them.

If not, what lights are you referring to ?

I am referring to the yellow post with five lights on it. It is on the runway, lined up with the centerline, but there should not be one on the runway. Do you know what I mean? Also, there is a large sound and wind barrier behind 25R to protect the road directly behind. But this is minor. I'm really loving the rest of the scenery.
