The symbology on the screenshot looks OK to me. Your screenshot is 1280x720, I suppose you resized a 1920x1080 screenshot, where it should look even better. Keep in mind that the HUD is projected differently on the Hornet and the T-45C, the HUD on the T-45C is collimated (stays fixed relative to the outside world as you move your head around), so this may account for the difference you see.

I've attached a crop from a 1680x1050 screenshot to compare how it looks on my monitor. And also a resized 1920x1080 from a video with the previous T-45C v200. I think the only differences are due to zoom factor, resizing and compression.

This is a follow on to one of my earlier posts in this topic.

Is there anyway to make the HUD symbols more intense i.e. darker and or brighter so they are more conspicuious?

Thank you,

Tregarth

Tregarth, unfortunately with xml based HUDs, there is no way to make them look any more clear or stand out better against the background. And there is no way to make them brighter or increase the contrast - you can just decrease brightness down from 100%. So there are only ways to make the symbology look worse. I have so far worked on HUDs for five different aircraft, and I have pestered the designers relentlessly until I was happy with the way the symbols look. However beyond a certain point, there is so much that can be improved. There are other technologies to implements the HUD other than xml graphics, but I have no experience with them.

Thank you for the explanation neutrino, I see what you're saying.  I just cropped it to size so i don't have to mess with it too much.  I have my zoom factor set to .50 and just move the eye-point forward or back.  These fsx add-ons just keep getting better and better, by the day, it almost seems.  Kudos to everyone in making these all possible!!

I have been flying the new Dino T-45 using Win 7 and it is very good.

I have just tried to add the IFLOLS gauge but, although the gauge shows as it used to, all the lights show as black.  I have flown a circuit to see if the lights come on when the plane is locked onto an ILS beam but nothing happens, as you can see fom the attachment.  Normally, on the ground some of the lights show but this time none are "turned on".

Previuosly I put the IFLOLS.CAB gauge in the Goshawk Panel folder, and made the folowing additional changes to the Panel.cfg file

[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel/Indexer/Carrier Trap Gauge
Window01=HUD Control
Window02=Radio Stack
Window03=Refueling Gauge/UFC
Window04=GPS
Window05=IFLOLS
Window06=PLAT Cam

and
//------------------------IFLOLS Ideal Size--------------------------------
[Window05]
size_mm      = 100, 100    // smaller size w/ bigger LCDs (1920x1200) = 300, 100
//position   = 1           // 1 = upper center, 4 = center, 3 = left center
window_size     = 0.0730, 0.130 // window_size= 0.2, 0.204 deflt; 0.156, 0.083 for 300,100 at 1920x1080
                              // window_size= 0.1875, 0.143 for 1024x768; 0.2, 0.204 for 1920x1080
                              // window_size= 0.2, 0.183 for 384, 220 at 1920x1200
window_pos   = 0.422, 0.85
background_color= 0,0,0
visible      = 0
ident      = 10050

gauge00=IFLOLS!IFLOLS.xml, 0, 0, 100, 100 // smaller size, bigger LCDs (1920x1200) = 0, 0, 300, 100

Am I doing something wrong, and if so, can you please tell me how to correct it?

Thank you for a really marvellous aeroplane.

Tre...

Find an airfield with an active ILS or a carrier, then dial in the ILS or ICLS freq. When you see the ILS needles come up on the HUD, the IFLOLS should work as well (even if its a land based ILS). Thats how the IFLOLS gauge works, it reads the HUD ILS needles.

If that doesnt work, holler at me and we will keep troubleshooting.

Dear Sludge,

Thanks for the reply, I hope you have now settled in to your new pad OK.

I have had another go with the IFLOLS and it now works perfectly - finger trouble at my end.  For info I have also transferred the gauge into my Dodo Sim Bell 206 and it works perfectly in that as well.

I am sorry to have troubled you and look forward to seeing your updated SuperHornet soon.

Best regards,

Tregarth.
