http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FILE_ID.DIZ

I have deleted plenty of these files over the years which seems to make no difference to anything but I don't recall seeing/doing this for the T-45C until just now. Have deleted the .DIZ file in the 'sound' folder and then flown the Goshawk OK. BUT.... I don't have sound on this computer to know if the sound has been affected but I don't think so.

You can move the file or rename it but YMMV.  Grin

Is there a way to increase displayed text size in the new Dino-T45C's HUD?
After reinstalling the new T-45 I noticed that in VC mode the green type on the HUD is very small and faint. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to get the larger type back?
Hi, can you provide a screenshot, perhaps cut only the HUD?

A .diz is a kind of text file. Open it with Notepad and it may show some facts such as what it is, who created it and where you got it from. I think diz is probably dodgy shortening of the word description. It won't hurt to keep it or lose it.

Please see attached screengrabs.  They were taken one after the other on the new T45.  Could the colour be a bit more intense or text a bit more bold?  (On the Digital Integration F/A-18E Super Hornet it was possible to change the font colour; it could be varied continuously from red to violet.  Sadly, it will not run in Win 7 HP.)

Please ignore the "scrunched" gauges - I have compressed 3 screens into 1 to show the VC on 1 screen.

Thank you,

Tregarth

I think the problem may be the resolution - the HUD looks more detailed on high resolution monitors. I have attached a picture that was cropped from 1920x1080 screenshot and then it was squeezed into a 100kb jpeg - you can still see a lot of detail. Unfortunately, there is nothing else than can make the HUD look better. Changing the color does not make the symbology look sharper, just different, you can see that with the blue and green. I have worked with Dino to provide the best looking symbology possible with an xml-based HUD.

Thanks for the reply.  You are right.

What sort of display are you using?  I am using a 19" wide screen TFT with a "natural" resolution of 1280 x 1024; do you have any ideas on how I can change it to 1920 x 1080 so I can have a similarly crisp image?

Thanks again,

Well, TFT monitors have a native resolution (usually the maximum) and they look the best at that resolution. In your case this is 1280x1024, which is normal for a 19" screen. My regular monitor at home is 21" and runs on 1680x1050 and I am very happy with it. I had briefly a 23" monitor which was 1920x1080 and this is the most typical resolution of the monitors today. The only way to see the HUD symbols better on a smaller monitor is to zoom in a little bit.

Thanks, I'll live with what I have. I have 3 x 19" WS monitors running off a TripleHead2Go so upgrading will be a bit expensive.

Thank you very much for a superb Goshawk, you have done a really impressive job.

Best regards,

T-45C Goshawk 2.20 Download link (untested) 22 June 2012

http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/t-45c-goshawk-220-download-link.html

"EDIT: THIS IS AN UNTESTED VERSION - PLEASE REPORT ANY MALFUNCTION IN THE COMMENTS. ALSO, PLEASE DELETE PREVIOUS VERSION BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ONE.

Please find a Mediafire download link to the latest build of the T-45C Goshawk for Flight Simulator X Acceleration. There are not many changes and most of them are minor fixes to small glitches that I considered annoying.

By the way, let me underline that the "docs" subfolder contains a pretty complete and detailed flight manual... it seems that many users did not know its existance and I think it is one of the best parts of the package.

Here is the dowload link to the untested version:

T45C for Flight Simulator X:Acceleration_VERSION 2.20

http://www.mediafire.com/?f71l5movd0al7lx (92Mb ZIP)

And here is the list of changes:

VERSION 2.20
- Changed external model canopy glass reflection to get rid of separate DX9/DX10 models. The new glass material (textured) looks OK in both modes.
- Fixed texture folder cfg for texture aliasing
- Added all the repaints from Jiri Soukup (which include the outstanding Centennial Of Naval Aviation schemes that were missing from the original package)
- Minor fixes to virtual cockpit (mainly misalignment of some switches)
- Improved HUD symbol generator modeling (should look slightly better now)
- Redone all thumbnails for visual consistency in FSX menu
- Fixed launch bar retraction animation sequence
- Fixed UVW mapping texture in tailhook pivot area

For some days I will not upload the file elsewhere - let me know it it works as it should, and if so I will post it to the usual websites. Have fun!"

I'm running on a 1920x1080(native) screen as well and the HUD symbology doesn't look anywhere like neutrino's.  I've seen screenshots of sludge's Hornet with nice resolute HUD symbology too, but mine doesn't look anywhere like those as well.  I'm beginning to wonder if the font that the t45 and the sludge hornet pools from somehow got jumbled?
