Thank you for this update ... and no panics with Aerosoft ! If this good compagnie release the same product, I every time give my preference for FSDT ...
For me, there are 3 very best compagnies "add-on" editor in the world ... And Aerosoft are only the 3 rd best  !
1 st : FSDT  2 nd : Fly Tampa  3 rd : Aerosoft ... but I think a news good compagnie came with Flightbeam studio ...

I think Aerosoft release Zurich for purpose a boxes product on the market, because FSDT are not available in Europe in Boxes and a lot of people in the European Country buy again only the boxes product !...

what is the difference between the 1st step and the 3rd? Is step 3 a more radical/extreme version of step 1 or something entirely different?

The 1st step improves on textures that already existed in the scenery, for 3d objects like buildings.

The 3rd step, extend the redesign to the ground, allowing to use Shaders with bump and specular effects on the tarmac/grass, as in KDFW, and eliminates most of the legacy FS9 code, to get rid of problems like invisible AI (if using FS9 AI models) if the airplane shadows are on, and allowing for full DX10 compatibility.

Because of this, the 3rd step it's not just a texture rework, but it requires a full redesign of the ground, which is why it will be FSX only (FS9 wouldn't use the advanced shaders anyway, and the current ground is already "native" for FS9) and will be payware, since it requires to do about 50% of the whole scenery basically from scratch.

For those wondering about why Aerosoft made Zurich, it was a comisioned product for a client. Aerosoft also develops through their Aerotek division. I guess they wanted to make more money on the product by offering it to the FS community. Otherwise they would never have done Zurich. Too bad this"client" didn't approach FSDT. They would have gotten alot more for their money... Us diehard FSDT'ers arn't going anywhere near that Aerosoft thing

Umberto, if KLAX can be backported to FS9 and it looks good, will you do the same with the reworked LSZH? We will pay our share too if it works.

is the issue with the width of the taxiways going to be fixed. It was mentioned by several people who know Zurich very well. Especially Taxiway E to holdingpoint RWY 16.

The original price, of course. And besides, when the 3rd step will be completed, the price will likely go back up to the original, but everyone that purchases Zurich today at 9.90, will be able to upgrade for the same price, and even use the 10$ Coupon, as a Zurich purchaser.

The only thing not 100% sure, is if we'll able to release the 3rd Step before December 12th 2011, because the 10$ Coupon expires that date. But of course, it work with any other FSDT product...

Oops, I think I made a mistake then.

I alread own Zurich but I just went ahead and repurchased Zurich a few minutes ago for the $14.50 USD and applied the coupon for $9.00 and paid a total of $5.50. I though that buying it again today was basically like prepaying for the 3rd step which is going to be the final update.

Regardless of what Aerosoft is doing, I'm glad to see that you are still keeping this product up to date (since I have NO intention of purchasing their as well as yours - makes NO sense IMHO)... especially since the original TAXIWAY signs, AI, and AFCAD's had some issues that weren't fully resolved (at least to my satisfaction )...

However, since I already purchased the product before and get free upgrades till the end of step 2; I ask the following:-
1.  Do I need to purchase something else to enjoy the discount coupon for v2.0?  i.e. can I apply it to v2.0 "if" your charging for that?
2.  Love the level of detail in the photo comparison - but honestly don't like the look of the "blue-ish" terminal buildings; any way users can choose "color schemes" in v2.0?  (See image: http://www.virtualisoftware.com/binaries/images/zurich2/lszh2_night_02.jpg  ).
3.  Will you cease support for v1.5.2 or earlier after the release of v2.0 for FSX users; since there is NO v2.0 for fs9, thus I ask?

The Discount Coupon doesn't have anything to do with the 2.0 Update. As clearly stated, the Discount Coupon applies to ANY FSDT product, last until December 31th 2011, and can be used (only ONCE) by any Zurich customer. That's it.

The 2.0 upgrade IS FREE, because it's only the 1st step. The screenshots that shows the 2.0 Preview are clearly listed inside the 1st Step paragraph, and that's is going to be free. We don't know how the 2nd and 3rd step will be named, maybe 2.5 and 3.0, but ONLY the 3rd one will be payware.

Since, as clearly explained, the Discount Coupon can be used to ANY FSDT product, even those not released yet, but expires at the end of 2011, if we'll be able to release the 3rd payware upgrade by that date, you'll be able to use it as a discount for that, otherwise you'll have to use it on another product...

First, you should see it live an in movement, because the eye can be easily tricked by a static screenshot. The way those textures are made is not just "blueish", they are using certain color perception theories, which really only work in movement, because they rely on persistence of vision and the ability for the eye to automatically balance colors in opposition...

In any case, I guess we'll might be able to offer an alternate textures set to download. However, wait to see the scenery live before saying you don't like it...

Again, you confused things. There WILL be a 2.0 for FS9, because 2.0 it's just the 1st Step. Then, there will be another step for FS9, and only the 3rd one (they payware) will be FSX only. Of course, support for old versions will end, but that simply means the last supported version for FS9 will be one version less than the FSX one, but it will be supported nonetheless.
