I'm on vacation in Maui right now - and I was able to get some pics of the new green terminal (actually they have only painted part of it at the ASA gates so far). I can upload the pics if you want.
I went to the airport and found a great spotting location (hey it was 93 degrees and my eyes hurt from excessive salt water exposure

). I was able to see the whole terminal and where the planes taxi and takeoff from runway 02. I only got to see a buisness jet land before airport security came and told me that "we don't want people hanging around". Times have really changed I guess

I asked if there was a public place I could spot and the sercurit guy said no. So I drove to the other side of the airport (right by the VOR actually) and watched all the mainland outbound heavies roar over. I couldn't see the airport though so I just had to sit there with my camera on and wait. I got some great footage though

I can't wait for the release! I flew an ASA 738 here and I'm going to fly the HAL 763/W back.
I shot some really good HD footage of the approach and landing. There is a saying that when it isn't really windy in Kahului....it is really breezy. And you can really feel that on the approach. Very bumpy! Another interesting thing about the approach (for mainland inbounders) the aircraft fly parallel to the airport (usually always runway 02) and than make a sharp 180 turn onto final when they reach the western coast.
BTW - I have been here for almost two weeks and only just found out how correctly pronounce 'Kahului'.
Kah-huh-lou-eee.
