What specs is the computer, you using to create these previews? Animation/quality looks very smooth!

I'm using a MacPro with an 8-core Xeon, it's a powerful machine for rendering work, but it's not a gamers pc, a standard i5/i7 will probably perform better in FSX.

However, all the animations are created a 30 fps AND FSX is also able to interpolate keyframes so, if your system is capable to reach or even surpass that figure in a certain airport, the animation will be very smooth.

If we don't reach the 30 will it just be slightly jumpy? Like if we get 18-25 let's say what will it be like?

This video, which was indicated as being very smooth, ran at about 18 fps, both because it featured a complex 3rd party airplane at KDFW *and* because of the added fps loss due to Fraps.

So no, animations will not be jumpy at all at less than 30 fps, but we programmed at that frame rate, so they'll be even better where the frame rate is higher.

How would that work with a aircraft such as the MD80, or even smaller the CRJ900??

Every service vehicle has a programmed height range in its sim.cfg file so, for example, a high catering vehicle will appear only with airplanes with a door higher than, let's say, 2.7 meters from ground. If the airplane door is lower than that, that vehicle will not appear, and another suitable one will be used. This is valid for all kind of vehicles, and the door height is not the only constrain that can be checked.

Will it work with AI-Traffic?

Well, in theory it could. But not without killing the fps...just to give you an idea, the human show in the video is not our final model, it's just a testing model, and it's about 1500 polygons, which is very low, and it's the absolute minimum to create a believable animated human. The characters in the final version will be about 4000 polygons each, and that's just the human, you then have to add the vehicle it relates to. Then, you might have several vehicles active at the same time, sometimes even in multiple copies, if the airplane has multiple cargo/service doors. And, you have several classes of vehicles visible at the same time. Let's not even start discussing *passengers*, because that would be a whole lot of polygons more.

And, this was just around the *user* airplane...if you start servicing AI, you can imagine what will happen.

LOL, YOU would either get negative FPS, or BSOD's like CRAZY

In other words the computer might catch on fire trying to do too much.  Smiley

This all looks nice and I am sure you are in the beginning stages and all.  But, the one from Orbix is still pretty nice!  At least the guys throwing the luggage on the ramp...minus the guys walking around aimlessly.  It's nice to incorporate new tech on the sim never the less.

I feel the same way; the more competition, the better the final product for all. However, GSX seems to be much better because it will work wherever you want it to, not just at a select ORBX airport, and, for what I have seen of both, I like GSX's features better -- but maybe it's just because I am a FSDT lover  Grin

I'd rather it didnt work with AI traffic because of the fps hit it will have ,but to have the option would be great.Flight 1 has the option of moving and connecting ramps for all aircraft in its UT2.

My simulator shudders every time AI calls a jetway, don't give them catering trucks too.   Wink
