Missing buildings while taxing to gate!
« on: January 09, 2011, 11:17:17 pm »
Hi I am not sure if this topic has been resolved or not. I am experiencing missing buildings. But its very sporadically when it happens. You never know when the buildings all of the sudden they are gone. Its a bad behavior, that it occurs in random situations. I am not sure how to fix this, any ideas?
I don't have DX10 ON, and I have a relatively new/fast graphic card. NIVIDIA 460 1 GB. and its Driver version is 258.96. my computer has quad processors. Is not hardware related I don't think. It is just annoying to fly for an hour and land, and then switch views and there is not buildings! But again, it doesn't happen every time. What can I do?
***Update
One more thing that just happened. I downsized my window from full size to smaller, and the buildings all of the sudden appeared. The airport buildings were gone, the casino buildings, the Progressive line was gone. I switched back to full screen and the screen went whitish, but still I could hear the airplane, air tower, and stuff. But nothing else. I re-sized  it again, and it went completely black, and then one more time to full size, the only thing visible were the mountains in the horizon, but as I was turning the view around the plane(no plane visible, just the lights from the wings visible at this point), I could see the mountains creating a pattern, a repetitive pattern, still the sounds, and everything was running behind this weird pattern of mountains. does this means that I need to upgrade my video card?  :-[Thanks aircanadajet

KLAS is not compatible with DX10. The only scenery we have which is fully compatible with DX10 it's KDFW. In general, it's FSX itself which is not 100% compatible with DX10, which is why the option is called "Preview", meaning it's really unfinished.

From your message, it wasn't just the airport scenery which disappeared when playing with the screen size, but also the airplane and the base default scenery so, it was really a FSX DX10 or driver issue (or both), more than a problem with the scenery. I strongly suggest using DX9 mode.

Hi, I am not sure if I understood you. But I don't have DX10 selected.

Sorry, I had the impression you said you were running in DX10 mode.

In any case, as I've said in my previous message, from your description of the problem, it looks like that resizing the window or switching to full screen back/forward, doesn't simply made buildings appear/disappear, but also creates all sort of issues with other part of the graphic, like the airplane or the background default scenery, which are not related to the airport. This maybe indicates problem with video memory corruption so, it's possibly related to video drivers, either being bugged, or just a problem with a setting.

Thanks. Yeah I think is got to be a video card issue. Do you have any recommendations? as far as the settings I should have for my video card? I see people switching settings in the main NIVIDIA control panel, and other don't. I am not sure how to start! Aircanadajet

You might try starting with pressing the buttons to restore drivers defaults. I'm not very familiar with the latest nVidia drivers, since it's has been a while I'm using ATI cards but, generally, it's safer to use WHQL drivers, from the nVidia site, the latest WHQL version for your card (Vista/Win7 64 bit) it's 260.99 so, you are some versions behind.
