No addon manager menu after reinstall

Hello group,

I recently got a new board and CPU and had to format my drive. Before I saved the FS folder on an external drive and moved it back after all the install stuff.

I redownloaded the JFK scenery and the standalone manager. I also downloaded the C++ 64bit and wanted activate my 3 sceneries I own again. But I don't have the menu to do this.

What can be wrong, or what do I need additionally?

I have FSX SP2, Win7 64bit.

You should install the 32 bit C++ runtimes, even on a 64 bit os, because these are 32 bit apps and requires 32 bit runtimes. However, our installers automatically install them so, the problem shouldn't normally happen, but it won't hurt trying this solution first.

Do you recall being asked the first time your run FSX, to authorize the Addon Manager to run ? If not, this might be an indication the program hasn't been installed, most likely because the antivirus has blocked it.

Yes, after installing the Addon Manager it automatically installed a C++. Don't know whether 32bit or 64bit. Thats why I installed the 64bit one after this.

Here is a section from my fsx.cfg file. Can you find missing things here? I remember beeing asked for couatl, but Addon Manager... Dont know. Its not listed below.

This is strange because, the =1 at the end means the program has been trusted, and has loaded just fine. It's best to activate the Simconnect diagnostic mode to understand what's going on, this way:

Open Notepad, and copy the following text:

Save the file as SIMCONNECT.INI in this folder:

Documents And Settings\YOUR LOGIN NAME\Documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator X Files

At the next FSX launch, you should see a text window with diagnostic messages: the FIRST 5-6 lines are important: you should try to note what they are saying.

Ok, this has been very helpful:

The bglmanx.dll module failed to load due to "Missing Dependencies" which means, is looking for a system .DLL, that is missing and/or corrupted.

The only external dependencies our module requires are the Visual C++ runtimes, which are installed automatically by our installer, and the Simconnect libraries, which should be installed by FSX. The version required is the SP2/Acceleration.

So, either your C++ runtimes are missing or not installed, or your Simconnect install has a problem.

You can try fix the C++ problem first:

- Go in the Windows control panel, and Uninstall ALL the istances of the Visual Studio 2005 redistributable runtimes. You might have more than one version, remove them all.

- Then, after removing everything related to VS2005, reinstall again these 3 files:

One after the other one, in this order. Use always the vcredist_x86.exe, even if your OS is 64 bit, we are dealing with 32 bit apps, so they need a 32 bit runtime.

Very good explanations, but it didn't work.

The problem seems to be, I did not install FSX after my system upgrade. I just copied it back and set the registry entry with a tool. I am now trying to install both SP1 and SP2, and see what happens.

That's it!! This is BIG mistake! You should ALWAYS run the FSX installer: copying folders and setting the registry keys is not enough, there's A LOT of things the FSX installer do, other than just copying files and setting the registry keys, there's the whole installation of all shared libraries, like Simconnect: if you skip that step, EVERY addon will have issues, because your FSX installation hasn't completed.
