My universal installer can't find the MSFS 2024

<< < (2/2)

Psolov:
I am having the same problem. One thing I notice is that on the bottom of the FSDT Installer main screen, there is a "question mark" symbol before the path to the community folder on my D Drive. I am certain that this is an MSFS2024 issue, and not an FSDT issue, since I have had other odd issues over the last few days. Any idea if the "?" before the file path is the sign of an issue?

Cheers, Pete

The question mark is not a problem, it's the standard windows notation for extra-long paths, because the installer supports them.

he problem is MSFS 2024 when you change the Content folder with the MyLibrary settings, won’t create an actual Community folder until you start it again (unless your Community folder already existed), so the FSDT Installer won’t find it, because it needs the folder to be there, to prevent being fooled by remnants of old installations.

So you need to either create an empty Community folder yourself, or start the sim again, so it will create it on the new startup, and finally the FSDT installer.

The explanation is valid for MSFS 2024 as well, the only different is the UserCfg.Opt is located in these places instead:

c:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt  ( Ms Store version )
c:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roamin\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\UserCfg.opt  ( Steam version )
