Virtuali/Kappa or FSDT Staff,

Shocked Yes, the rain effect looks especially lovely.  I assume you are using default FSX water settings/textures; i.e. NO "REX-Like" or FSWC water enhancing... Right?

1). If so, will this effect carry onto Aircraft light reflections?  (Just interested to know)

2). Also, are the FSX video card req.'s going to need increasing to absorb this effect; must we need to run a ATI5000 or Nvidia 400 series card(s) to continue to enjoy these new tool features?

3). Will you provide AES support for this airport?

4). Will you make AI traffic that go onto and under those elevated bridges/roads?

The screens are mesmerizing as usual.

Quick question - what technique (s) will be used for the ground textures in FS2004 - fully custom OR default+custom layer (the same as it was implemented for KFLL and PHNL)

Thanks

I guess I'm crazy but I'm just not a fan of the rain effects.  It seems to me that no matter what, it always looks like a glass table or that the ground is flooding.

But the scenery itself is really starting to come along nicely.

Yes, of course. We only work with fairly clean FSX installations.

That's not something the scenery controls, but rather how the aircraft lights are made (see the L-39 Albatros for FSX, its lights have a different effect on the scenery)

We are not changing what FSX is normally capable. We are only extending on ground textures, by getting rid of FS8 code.

We don't provide AES support. We pass the source code for jetways to Oliver, and he provides AES support. There's no reason to suspect this would change for this airport.

Yes, of course. Since we said (many times already) that we were opposed to elevated bridges if the AI wouldn't work on it, we haven't "changed our minds" with KDFW, we simply made it right.

I cant believe how good that looks. Next to KFLL, this is about the most excited I have been for a scenery to be finished. Although as good as it looks, I am a little scared to see how it performs, although KORD is a pretty big airport and it works well on my system.

I agree, the only way I have seen the ground look like that is if its covered with about an inch of rain. It's not FSDT's fault though, just the way FSX handles it. I dont like the way it looks in default airports either.. What would be cool though, is if the ground would get darker when it rains as it absorbs the water like it does in real life.

Glad that you'll finally caught up to Aerosoft and are making AI move under/top-of bridges.... Wink

Great work indeed!

For info only:
(DFW is the third-largest airport in the world in terms of operations and the seventh-largest in terms of passenger numbers. The land area at the airport is approxmiately 18,076 acres, which is the largest in Texas, the second-largest in the US and the third-largest in the world.)

Starting next year a major renovation project will be launched for the next six years to give it a new modern look...  (Airport source.)

Beside that one feature, I would dare say that anything FSDT puts out is way beyond what Aerosoft manufactures in terms of performance and looks, at least in regards to products I have purchased that Aerosoft has produced. Seems that every scenery I buy from them either shimmers due to lack of mip mapping or gets really poor FPS. For me, the AI going under or over bridges, is a very small part of what makes a scenery enjoyable, or for that matter usable.

However, I am glad that FSDT is putting this feature, but if they weren't I probably wouldn't have even been upest about it.

See this message on Aerosoft forum:

http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=18706

From the EDDP product's manual

"Unfortunately it is not possible in FS2004 to let the AI Traffic taxi over bridges. The Afcad-file has adapted this „non-feature“ and most of the traffic will use the southern runway in order to avoid the bridges"

So, as I've said (many times already), we never implemented this feature before, because we don't think it makes much sense to close a whole runway just not to have AI taxiing under bridges on those taxiways.

In any case, your comparison was wrong, because at EDDP the problem is different: there's a taxiway with bridge that crosses *over* an highway, which is more tricky because AI should climb over it. At KDFW, the bridged taxiway has the same altitude as the rest of the apron and the highway with cars is running *below* so, it's an entirely different situation which is solved in an entirely different way.
