The USS Stennis was the site of an explosion Wednesday that left injured ten sailors. The explosion is believed to have come from an F/A-18C Hornet jet engine.
A spokesman for the United States Navy confirmed that report, adding that it was a, "catastrophic engine failure."
The injured sailors were all working on the flight deck at the time of the accident, and all were initially cared for by the on board medical crew of the USS John C. Stennis.
The explosion left a fire that was easily extinguished by attending crews and no major damage was reported to the vessel.
