It's not possible GSX crashing the sim, surely not directly, because it doesn't have any access to the sim memory, and the only "dangerous" thing that could theoretically crash the sim ( but never did ), which was DirectX 11 RTT, is completely absent for P3D V5, we have a separate version of the module for P3D V5 that doesn't contain any DirectX code so, it's basically impossible for GSX to crash the sim.
However, P3D V5 is known to still have issues with VRAM so, if you are close to VRAM exhaustion, the very fact you are seeing lots passengers might consume your VRAM, especially if you are already using a large part because of the combination of memory hungry airplanes and memory hungry airplanes so, adding passengers might just be the tripping point.
What you can do is:
- Lower the passenger density slider, which will result in less passengers visible at any given time.
- Disable the "Airport Walkers" in the GSX settings, which right now are featured only on two sceneries: KORD V2 and LFSB, and they add up to the normal passengers.
