No taxiway lights + 10L glideslope
« on: October 24, 2021, 11:17:56 pm »
Umberto :)

Landed in heavy weather at ORD today. Had no glideslope to 10L at all, I remember someone mentioning it at Avsim before, but today I experienced it personally. Also, the blue taxi lights as well as center green ones were not illuminating at all. Any ideas?

Checked it now, and it's working just fine, see attached screenshot.

Not a problem of the scenery, it's a bug of the default taxi lights that has been introduced in SU5. They are showing their "bad" LOD levels even when you are fairly close, and that LOD level, which supposed to show only from very far, there's no emissive light, in addition to the object itself being too sparsely detailed.

Strange you only noticed it at KORD, considering it's exactly the same on other 20.000+ default airports. We reported this bug when SU5 came out, Asobo confirmed it should be fixed in SU7.

Back in August 2020, when KORD came out, the SDK didn't allowed to create custom taxilights, a feature we have been begging for since it was stil in Alpha. It eventually came out with recent updates, so now we'll have more control over taxilights. KCLT, for example, will feature custom taxilights so, we won't be suffering from bugs that are affecting the default taxilight object and, if the bug will still be there in SU7, we'll likely retrofit all our past sceneries to have custom lights too.
