Add On plus SODE stopped working
« on: February 09, 2021, 11:33:09 pm »
Hi

The other day I was doing some GSX 2 adding jetways.
For some reason SODE and Couatl (and GSX) doesn't work any longer from the menu ... well ... every perhaps 4:th try it works

What's happening:
Starting FSX and the Add On menu don't show the last 3 items Couatl settiongs, Couatl Live update and GSX
Add on manager is visible but doesn't do anything)
SODE 1.7.1 item is visible but doesn't do anything.
The'ry though visible as active sub processes to fsx and is consuming CPU

Side-effect
Fsx doesn't close down properly when the problems are there(I have to kill the process), but does when the menus works

What I have done:
- Checking the exe.xml (unchanged and looks good)
- Checking the SODE Registration
- Deactivated the airports I was working with
- Clean the GSX folder on ini-files
- Ran the FSDT update. Directly after the FSDT update, and starting fsx it freezes after loading a flight, then I kill fsx and when restarting it again everything works incl add on manager. And it does for 3-4 restarts. Then it's back to square 1, no add on manager etc. A new FSDT update .....
- Removed the fsx.exe and had it built again
- Checked the Couatl.err which has one problem with an airport but from a previous day, this airport is deactivated)

I just am running out of ideas so ... please.

I did uninstall GSX including Couatl and add on manager
All libraries removed.
Sode remains not working

For documentation and potential help.
Problem solved.

I had to remove peace by peace before reaching the bug.
Sode uninstalled and folders removed, GSX uninstalled and folders removed, FSUIPC uninstalled and folders removed, AddOn Manager uninstalled and folders removed etc.
At last it start working after cleaning up in the fsx.cfg and specifically the [Trusted] section.
The rest I could restore from a saved fsx.cfg file and then I started installing and adding programs.
I though forgot to backup the GSX ini files so I had to spend 3 days adding gates.

Maybe this can help somebody.

So Not an FSDT issue.

So Not an FSDT issue.

Of course, it never is. A problem with the [Trusted] section usually indicates an problem with the antivirus. If you run any FSDT uninstaller, and reply YES to the question "do you want to remove the Addon manager ?", it will automatically clean the [Trusted] section.

I like your approach  :)  even though your drop-height is getting higher.

Thanks for the info regarding cleaning up the Trusted section (I guess regarding the FSDT add-ons).

Well, thankfully, both P3D and MSFS 2020 got away with that unreliable embedded trust system, which is the simulator doing something extra (and confusing) work in addition to what the OS can do just fine.
