The size is the same as it always be. You *think* they are bigger, but only because P3DV5 renders everything brighter. AND more saturated, which answers to the 2nd part of your question.
We noticed lots of users like the more saturated look, to a point they used shader modifications in V4 to achieve that, so we decide not to change too much for the time being. Obviously, not eveybody has the same tastes, which is why P3D always had Brightness/Saturation controls.
