Oh God!! please, please, PLEASE don't tell me we are back at it again...

I'm pretty sure it was all done and over with. Wink

Now, my only concern is AES. Oliver has been very silent about developments lately...

Just recently he did make comments over at the FlyTampa forums that he would be doing the Boston scenery so I'm assuming he'd be glad to do this scenery.  I think it all just boils down to time and how much he wants to say.

Mr. Jim Dhaenens,
I hope your planning on adding a few freeware goodies to their package?  If so, please add ground/maintaince crew to the hangers and even an animated marshaller, would be a great feature.  Also, any addon Naval Bases will be great to see/fly, too along with PHNL.  If you'll do these releases, it will be especially awesome in FSX.  Thanks Gents! Cool

Virtuali, I am very pleased to hear at least 1 airport will be avail with PHNL. This year? So did work on the second airport begin yet or do you expect it to be very quick work?

Yes, I will be happy to buy both together.

Now, my only concern is AES. Oliver has been very silent about developments lately...

Don't know if I'm wrong but it looks like other Hawaiian airport was being worked on at the same time as phnl? which was a big surprise to me I'm sure they will show something when its ready to be shown, crap! that means I have to save more money! lol cause if more then one scenery is going to be included they I suspect that it will cost more then 35 usd but this is just me speculating.

Umberto said they expected to release the second airport at the same time, but I don't remember anything about being included.  Will cost less because it has less detail, but I expect it will be a separate purchase.

Well, as I have decided to hold off on FSX till 4th QTR 2010, I have plenty funds for addons. I hope to be surprised with 2 airports! And I am quite sure the smaller airports will be of the high quality FSDT always brings us!

wow till 4th 2010 that long! you will be in luck with the new I9 from intel coming out in 2010 and maybe lowering the prices of the I7

Hi Bruce it seems I worded it wrong I was just thinking on the cost for both airports in the packaged deal.

Mr. "Newmanix,"
Well, as I have decided to hold off ... till 4th QTR 2010, ...
I've made the same decession for complete system hardware updgrades, ONLY.  Not because the i5/i7 stuff out there wasn't good enough, but rather because my current system (tweaked) already does what they do now with only a minor decrease in FPS values and overall performance.  Also, I already have so many addon's (including all of FSDT's stuff), which will need to be reinstalled on Windows 7.  And, since NOT everyone is giving clear-support for Windows 7, it was another reason why I waited.   But, if as you've said your on a budget of $2,000 or less, then there really isn't any reason for you NOT to buy your hardware/FSX today, as tomorrows hardware will enhance FSX but at the same or slightly higher $ $,$$$ values.  This is ruled by Industrial Market preceipts and NOT by gaming/hardware requirements.  At least that has been the history of these things.  You will always find the Low-end systems ~ $300 -> $700, Mid-end ~ $1,000 -> $1,700, and the ones designed for (Gaming) FlightSim $2,000-> $6,000 (but the < $2,000 aren't all that good).  So, what I'm saying is that your going to have to consider increasing your budget just a little more weather it be this year or next by a small factor to meet your expectations.  That was my finding for my self and I hope it helps you with your decession(s).

But, holding off purchasing FSDT addon's wheather it be FS9/FSX does really matter either, as they have already said 100's of times that they are doing airports for BOTH sims.  And, you can still use them in Trial Mode for as long as you want (or at least till the "experience" of it is over, roughy < 6-10 mins).  Furthermore, since the official release of Windows 7, they will most likely have to provide Windows 7 support for their/cloud9's products for, at least their NEW RELEASES, if not also the older ones.  I hope they do both, for at least all their FSX products, and bring them all to the level of using all the FSX features provided (like Rain Effects on Rwys, Blades of Grass, 4096 RES Textures, etc.) in the Sim.

Later! Smiley

Yeah I would have to agree with James about the harware and difference in performance vs. price.

Last night I was talking to Michael at FS-GS about changing out my video card and possible doing an upgrade to a 64 bit system.

He has two systems. One is an E8600 OC'ed to 4.0 with 8 gb of DDR2 1066, with I think was a GTS 250 OC 1GB video card running on Vista 64.

He also has an i920 OC'ed to I think 3.75 with 12 GB of DDR3 1600 ram, video card I can't remember but it was 1GB, and running on Win 7.

Being in the business he has about every plane and scenery addon you can imagine to use for testing and of course his own pleasure. He told be that actually his E8600 system performaned as well, if not maybe even a little better then his i920 system, and of course was a little less expensive.

The point being, that you could build a good quad or dual core now, for probably under $2000, granted using your same monitor/keyboard/mouse, and wouldn't get much more performance buy waiting and getting more expensive equipment comming out in the near future.

Even on my older E8400 OC'ed to 3.85, 2 GB RAM at 1086, and GTX 250 OC 1GB, and Win XP 32 bit, I get amazing performance and this was built April '08 for $1800.

If I was going to upgrade now, I would get 64 bit system for sure and DDR3 memory. In my case I think the 2 gb of DDR2 memory is all that is really holding me back from a little further performance, but I am really happy for what I have and what I paid for it. I would probably lean towards a quad if I was going to buy now, just to help future proof yourself a little, but just make sure to get something that you can OC to at least 3.75 ghz.

Good luck what ever you do and Happy Holidays.

Well I decided to hold off for a number of reasons.

1. Sony - BRAVIA / 52" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV
2. Pioneer Elite - 910W 7.1-Ch. Satellite Radio-Ready A/V Home Theater Receiver
3. '09 Cervelo S1 (Ultegra-SL)

As the whole FSX hardware thing is just getting too complicated, it is time to move on. I need a new TV, stereo, and road bike. FS2004 thank God is still a great platform with plenty to offer and with developers still making FS2004 products, I can hold off a while longer untill I can gathar a bigger budjet and better hardware options. FYI, I am not ready for Windows 7 anyway... More problems...

So Virtuali can continue to count on me to keep buying FS9 products. I guess what I fear the most, getting that $3000 PC system and not happy with proformance when I could have bought other toys I want. So other toys are coming first.

Another airport?  My preference would be Kaneohe Bay MCAS, but right down the road west is Kalaeloa Airport, which used to be NAS Barber's Point. Dillingham has already been done. Maybe Princeville or Port Allen (Very small private and GA respectively). Kona or Kapalua are interesting but any other airport in a tropical paradise will be nice.

As far as freeware addons I don't have anything in the works other than already releasing the 1940's version of the Hickham Hangars mostly for another developer who is working on a 1940's version of Pearl Harbor. I'll take a look once it's out. It's a big island. I may see a few areas that could benefit from my attention.

Thanks Mr. Jim Dhaenens!
What ever you can do to add another step in realism and authenticity to the PHNL/Hickman AFB landscape with Crew/Machines and, possibly, object (buildings/Vehicles) facilities to the environment would be greatly appreciated.

It would be nice to taxi out of one of those FSDT hangers and see all the ground crew around the hangers, perhaps doing some work on an engine, etc., and have ambulances/fire trucks parked nearby, while seeing some AI/static (objects) aircraft parked in/around ramps, hangers, etc.  Just me dreaming again... Grin

Thanks for entertaining the idea. Smiley

Mr. "PUP4ORD,"

After PHNL is released or near release, I'm fairly sure that FSDT will make their announcement...

My only question is, will anything (including the NEW "FSX Tool") be released for Christmas '09? Huh
I'm very much wanting to buy another FSDT Product this year. Grin
