« on: August 31, 2009, 05:57:45 pm »
Dear all,

I have 2 questions.

1) When i commence a replay, all of the buildings aside fromthe gates are disappeared. why ?

2) is there a possiblity to reduce the size of the texture so it'll increase my FPS ?

thanks in advance.

1. Fsdreamteam's sceneries are, to put it simply, handled differently than default or other scenery addons. One of the "limitations", if you can call it that, is the buildings disappear during instant replay. However, there's an easy solution. Use Fs Recorder instead. It's free and offers more features that the default replay, so it's a win-win situation. Link: http://www.fs-recorder.net/downloads.php
2. There's a texture resizer available in the fs9 support section (you'd have to modify the bat file to get it to work though). However, it might not increase fps at all. If you are experiencing stuttering it would help but this shouldn't really be an issue in fsx. Instead, it's probably better to increase fps by tweaking stuff *not* related to the scenery, like reducing the vehicle density or autogen setting. The scenery itself is already very well optimized.

A complete answer of why the sceneries are not compatible with Instant Replay, is given here:

The texture size doesn't really have much to do with fps (unless your video card has less than 256MB) but, instead, with eventual stutters, and not in FSX anyway, that's why the resizer is made for FS9 only.

You can check this: by lowering the Global Maximum texture size slider 1 notch, it will force all textures to be not higher than 512x512 instead of the default 1024x1024 so, it's quite similar to use the resizer.

You can try it and check the effect on fps on your system. If the fps increases, then you should probably consider a better video card. If not, your problem is elsewhere, probably CPU-related and having set settings too high for your system.
