Strange problem with ground textures (scenery v1.2)
« on: August 10, 2009, 05:06:44 pm »
Apologies, the original post was a little confusing.

When I pass the red line below, the ground textures disappear when facing directly west:

I first noticed this when taxing along in cockpit view:

So I Switched to spot view to investigate and sure enough, the textures were gone:

I then altered the angle I was viewing the aircraft ( a little higher) and the textures came back:

As I said above, the problem only happens after I pass the Bravo holding point. If viewing the aircraft before the red line I showed above, everything is fine:

The problem doesn't just happen in that area. It happens all along this red line:

So, if I go to 09R this happens at a low viewing angle:

but when the view angle is higher, it's ok again:

~~~
Another method of showing the problem is in top-down-view.
Here, everything is ok at the cross section of the runways:
But moving further down/to the west (past the red line shown above) makes the textures go away:
Here is the area slightly zoomed out:
But if I zoom right out, everything is ok:
Using V1.2 in FS9. Any help would be really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Alex
I'm not sure to have understood the question entirely.
Does the fact that you are beta testing a new airplane, has something to do with the fact that the issue seems to be related to that airplane ? Meaning: does it happens with that airplane only, or it always happens ?
No, this airplane has nothing to do with it.
I went back and tried it with other aircraft and it's still the same.
Edit: I'm just creating some more helpful screenshots.
I don't see this, but the fact you have the problem appearing only across the red line ( that looks like a latitude or longitude boundary ), looks like as a problem created by another scenery that is excluding ours, and that scenery happens to end at the red line.
Do you have KFLL on top of the Scenery Library ?
Problem fixed by making KFLL no 1 in the scenery library.  :D
Very strange though. I only just reinstalled FS no other sceneries should conflict with it. Nearest in the area is Flytampa Miami.
It's kinda annoying that every scenery developer says, "our scenery must be at the top of the library" - but there can only be one at the top. lol  >:(
Thanks for your quick replies virtuali.  ;D
It's kinda annoying that every scenery developer says, "our scenery must be at the top of the library" - but there can only be one at the top.
Well, every developer says so because it's just easier, considering that, to fix issues like that, one should check all your installed files.
Instead, the correct answer would probably be something like "our scenery must be on top of any sceneries that might conflict with it", which doesn't say much, unless you are able to find them yourself so, putting at the topmost layer, it's usually the easiest fix.
