May I ask though, even though the installer has administrative rights, why are you unsure about the downloaded file not properly replacing an existing one?

Because FSX might haven't closed cleanly, and the installer, regardless of the administrative rights, might not be able to write the files, because are still locked by FSX itself.

Ah, I see.

Well, all times I ran the installer FSX was closed totally.  Even if FSX windows aren't present, as long as the application is running, the Aero interface is switched off, so I know FSX is still running.
