I just installed in P3Dv4.2. The DDI's are working fine, but still getting the red FCS warning in the HUD. Do I need to meove the new FCS Dll's somewhere other than the panel folder?

Thanks,
Reggie

Hi Reggie,

yes move that file HornetFCS.dll over into your panel folder and that will stop the FCS warning in the hud.

Good morning everybody,
I'm new in this forum and at first I want to say thank you for this wonderful plane.
I'm living in Switzerland and the F/A 18 is something special.
I fly FSX and I have the same problem with the red "FCS FAIL" on the HUD .
I noticed a warning signal "FCS HOT" on the right side of the panel and when I open the FCS window I see "FCS initialized-0".
The HornetFCS.dll file is in the Panel Fleet folder.
I 'm speaking about the version 18. but I had the same problem with the version 17.
Can someone help me to fix this issue?
Many thanks !

Got the FCS warning gone from the HUD, but now getting this warning (see screenshot). Where do I need to place this "sound" gauge?

Reggie,

What you need to do is replace the 64 bit version of the sound.dll with the 32 bit version.

Please follow the following steps:
1.  If you still have your previous version of the FSXBA Hornet, got to its folder in SimObjects/Airplanes and locate the "Panel.Fleet" folder.
2.  Within that folder, you should see a file titled "dsd_fsx_xml_sound.dll".  Copy it.
3.  Navigate to the new FSXBA Hornet 18.2/Panel.Fleet folder that you just installed and paste it within there.  You also see another sound file in there called "dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64".  No need to delete it.
4.  In that same folder, you should see another file called "Panel.cfg", open it.
5.  Locate the following line:
Code: [Select]
gauge20=dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64!Sound,  2,2,2,2, \Sound\Sound.inireplace if with the follwing:
Code: [Select]
gauge20=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound,  2,2,2,2, \Sound\Sound.iniSave the Panel.cfg file.
6.  Restart FSX/P3D and see if that fixes your problem.

Let me know if it fixes the issue, or if you run into any problems.

Lucame,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the kind words!

Have a few questions for you:
1.  Do you have a previous version of the FSXBA F/A-18 installed already?
2.  If so, did you use the auto-installer to have it installed or did you do a manual installation?

Your problem could be one of two things (or both):

Try this first...
1.  The HornetFCS.dll file that comes with the 18.2 jet is made for the 64-bit version of P3D. You will need the correct version (32-bit) of the FCS.dll for FSX.  You can get that downloading the latest FSX version of the jet and looking in the Panel.Fleet folder.  Simply copy and paste the dll from that version into the Panel.Fleet folder of the 18.2 jet.  Click yes to replace if prompted.

If the above doesn't work, do this as well....
2.  You need to install the "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015".  It can be found at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145.  Make sure you download the x86 variant.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you run into problems or have further questions.

The aileron trim in the FA-18C_FSXBA_BA_18.2.22 version is reversed. After checking my CH controls for the correct key assignments, I tested this against a number of other aircraft and confirmed it.

Mr. Lowery,

Please find included below the link to download an updated version of the FA-18_18.2.air file that is located in your FA-18C_FSXBA_BA_18.2.22 Folder, which is located in SimObjects/Airplanes.  Simply download the file from the link below, and place it in your FA-18C_FSXBA_BA_18.2.22 folder.  Click yes to replace the existing file if prompted.

Let me know if this fixes your issue please.  If so, I'll include it in the next release of the jet.

Thanks again,

Jimi

Thank you Jimi, all is perfect working now without problems on the HUD.

I think that The Visual C++ program was not correctly installed or was not the latest version.

I spent a lot of time trying to fix my F/A18 and the solution was so easy....

Best wishes   :D

Mr Hendrix,
The new .air file works fine now with all trims working in the correct sense.
One very minor issue for consideration when the really important work is finished: The stabilizer movement in response to trim input is excessive (I think; this should be checked with a Hornet specialist.) For example, at 300KIAS apply full aileron and note the tailplane deflection angles. At the same speed, feed in aileron trim only and note the deflection angles.
For now, the Hornet flies beautifully and all controls work in the correct sense. I'd leave the tailplane deflection issue for the final tidying up phase.
Beautiful work, Sir! Please keep it up

Just an .air file shouldn't matter, P3D, any version, or FSX.

Hope this helps a little...

Hi Everyone,

First, a sincere thank you for the hard work put into this beauty! Very impressive and immersive too.

I have just one small issue if you can help.

When starting a flight I receive a 'Config File Not Found:' error every time. Any ideas?

Other than this she works and flies superbly.

I'm running P3Dv4.1 with Windows 7.

Best regards, Dave.

Are there any other repaints other than what is on the FSX Blue Angels website? I've checked the usual places with negative results.

Thanks,
Reggie

Dave,

I'd first recommend going to the FSXBA FA-18C BA 18.2... and opening the panel.fleet folder.

Do you see the file in question in there?

If yes, open you panel.cfg file and verify that it is pointed to the correct location. The entry i is titled: gauge20=dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64!Sound,  2,2,2,2, \Sound\Sound.ini

If the file is not in the panel.fleet folder, I'd recommend downloading and reinstalling, then verify that that file is in there.

Hope this helps.
