sinking tram
« on: September 18, 2017, 02:07:16 am »
I am running P3Dv4. I have all ORBX sceneries. All bgl's are off via forum instructions, including compatibility file from ORBX.  My issue is, when viewing from tower, I see airport tram disappear into ground. The road running parallel to the tram is also sinking into ground.  All other elevations are where they should be. No floating jetways, no plateaus.  I had this problem awhile back, and I can't remember how I fixed it. THX  S. Sumner

The problem doesn't have anything to do with the airport. It's likely the OrbX terrain reacts differently to the LOD switch to a lower polygon resolution which happens when you change view to a more distant one.

That's another reason why the default scenery is preprocessed to smooth out elevation around the airports, so you won't have such visual anomalies due to LOD switching (it won't be a much problem if you were flying in the mountains), in addition to many other problems resulting from having an add-on high-res mesh.
