Issue between fsdt KLAS and Orbx has been solved!

For those of you who uses this combo of scenery, the issue with elevations has been solved by Orbx. Now the two scenery are playing nice together again, and it's all back to normal. Time to fly in and do some gambling! lol

?? What happened ? We just changed the background apron to be invisible in the current update, but this would have only improved some flickering, but haven't touched the elevation.

Has OrbX fixed something in the meantime ? So far, they haven't replied yet to my request of help.

Holger, over at ORBX, released a new version of the cvx_FTX-SCA_FSDT-KLAS_compatibility.BGL. He's now matched the elevation of its central flatten exactly with that of the original FSDT flatten file (CVX_KLAS.BGL, 664.768m).

the issue is solved as long as we don't run the FSDT Live updater again (which overwrites the (deactivated) CVX_KLAS.bgl and replaces the fixed *.bgl that Holger had developed).

I had posted a similar request at the OrbX forum thread for Holger to see if you can successfully connect on this issue. Having seen that you had already contacted OrbX, there might be a disconnect somehere :).

Yes, the fix is stored in the klas\scenery folder, so then that should be fine.

There is a bigger issue between FSDT and Orbx. The fact that the Vector AEC config utility (Airport Elevation Correction) which scans your scenery.cfg file and auto adds it to ignore it if needed is not working anymore. So with say, Flightbeams KDEN or even KLAS, with the new scenery install method that does not use the scenery.cfg, AEC config does not know it exists and thus does not add it to the disabled list anymore. A user has to manually add it. Trouble is some sceneries need it to be disabled and some don't. I really wish FSDT and Orbx would communicate with regards to this issue. Anything installed via th eaddon.xml method will not get seen.

You say some disable and some don't, which one exactly are you seen that does not? I got most of FSDT and all of FLIGHTBEAM sceneries, and they all look fine when I manually disable them in the Orbx vector config utility.

Yes, once you manually disable them in AEC, they will work fine. I am talking about the fact that AEC cannot do it automatically anymore.

This doesn't have anything to do with FSDT, of course. It's just that the OrbX utility MUST be updated to support what is an official standard in the P3D SDK.

Every 3rd party utility that needs to read the scenery.cfg will have to be updated to read also sceneries added with the add-on.xml, otherwise it will going to have issues as soon as more and more developers will adopt the new standard.

They just need to read the C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v4\scenery_addon.xml file, and add those areas to the ones found in the scenery.cfg. It's a file the sim keep updated, which include the list of the areas added via the add-on.xml method, it's XML, so it's really easy to read.

Its still not working for me either. I have followed every instruction to the letter including using the FTX Global Vector AEC and also tried Holger's fix. I still have strange hills and  canyons swallowing my aircraft in FSX. I have spent so much time on this and now have given up flying to KLAS and written it off as a loss of money. Not sure if FSGlobal has anything to do with it. Nobody seems to know if it does or not.

I apologise for being stupid. I did not have the latest version of KLAS installed. All is now working perfectly!
