Gates for Heavies in KCLT?
« on: June 04, 2017, 09:11:39 pm »
Hi,

Could someone provide me a list of gates at KCLT that can accommodate a 747-400?
I have searched on Flightaware for heavy gates but GSX stated that all of the gates used by A330s are too small for the 744, which is weird because they have the same wingspan according to wikipedia.

Help will be appreciated!

There are very few parking spot that can fit heavy airplane at KCLT, the space is very tight on the main Concourses. The only one that might work are D11 and D12, maybe.

If you run the FSDT Live Update now, there's a small fix that will enable these two for a 747 in GSX.

A quick check of FlightAware doesn't show that they do, but American flies A330's from EDDF to KCLT and they have parked at D2.  Just FYI..............

See this screenshot with GE Pro: D2 it's 36.32 meters wide, and we set it 36.0 meters in the scenery and the GSX customization.

I guess in reality they might send a 747 there, by being sure nobody will go to the two nearby parking spots but, unfortunately, the AI engine of the sim doesn't support this so, if we did something like this in the AFCAD, AI will clash one into each other.

But if it's just to park your own plane, you can of course override the setting with the GSX parking customization page, so the AFCAD size will remain the same (and AI won't cause problems, although you will never see a 747 AI there), but GSX will allow to park there.

Lufthansa has not flown A340's to CLT in quite some time. They do have daily A332 to Germany though (can't remember if MUC or Frankfurt).
