dynamic lighting
« on: May 31, 2017, 04:56:24 am »
Umberto,  should I expect the new dynamic lighting in P3D V4 to be as crippling as it is? I go from about 15FPS @ KCLT with it checked to a smooth 40-50fps by disabling it even with 100% AI using Ultimate Traffic Live with almost everything maxed out.  My system is below:

i7700K o/c'ed to 4.6
32GB RAM
GTX980 4GB
Win 10 64bit
P3D v4 is on 1TB SSD drive.

Also I loaded FB's SFOHD and your JFKv2 and it went down to 3FPS when dynamic lighting was checked. unchecked they both are well over 30FPS (never had KJFK at 30 before with full AI).

Interested to hear your thoughts on this and by the way KCLT is awesome!!!

There's something really strange because, on my system (GTX 980, i7 6700, no overclock), I see ZERO performance hit.

This because we never lit up more than 5-6 lights at the same time, and consider the sim supports up to 250 static lights + 250 point lights so, it has been designed to support up to 500 lights!.

Do you think it could be an issue with the 3rd party ai traffic?

Yes, of course...LM has updated many stock effects, to add dynamic light to them, so if you have many AI, using such effects for positions lights, they might cause an fps hit.

I will do some testing tomorrow on this. If i have to i can live without the dynamic lighting for now. I prefer maxed ai vs none. Thx for the input.
