Installation problems?
« on: January 13, 2009, 09:24:28 pm »
At the end of JFK/FSX installation am getting an error message
what says "exe.xml Error on Line19...".
Installation finishes anyway. What I see in FSX as the scenery then
has nothing to do with what I can see in FS9. Looks like as textures
would be missing. Whats wrong there?
Have already re-installed with the same results.

There's was already an error in your EXE.XML before installing JFK so, the installer hasn't touched it and the installation hasn't completed.

The file is located at %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX

You can either try to fix it yourself of, if you just delete it, a new correct one will be created again, so you need to run the JFK installer again, after the file is fixed.

Means this a previous installation has already created it
and I could leave it as it is?
The grafic problems have been fixed meanwhile. This damn installation
has change my grafic settings. Thats impudent.

Not from any of our software. The error was surely created by another installer and, as I've said, our installer FIRST checks for syntax and THEN modifies it, otherwise it stops with the message you saw, and doesn't continue copying files.

Because, if you reinstalled it again, it might have fixed the corrupted EXE.XML by itself.

The installation doesn't change your graphic settings.

It's just that, the FIRST time you ran the installer, because your file was corrupted, it didn't copied all the textures, that's why you didn't see textures. The second install, either because you fixed the file or because the installer was able to fix it by itself, the installation obviously complete, so the scenery now appears correct.
