Cant get keyboard shortcuts to work or to get to the tower view?

Running FSDT products including kmem with p3d v3.4.9 in windows 10 x64.. for some reason none of the shortcut keys seem to work.  Control f12, shift f etc.. i'm not sure what i might be missing here.. it was my understanding that you need to press these to bring up certain views, like the "tower experience"?

Maybe you have upgraded P3D without updating the Content, as explained here ?
