Passenger stair trucks at gates?
« on: July 26, 2016, 04:00:08 pm »
I fly the Aerosoft Airbus and PMDG NGX for the most part, and when I'm at a major airport gate, such as my fsdt airports, I request for passenger boarding, and I get two stair trucks on my left side docking to the aircraft, even though I have the gangway connected to the left front door. How do I make sure not to have stair trucks when docked to gangways? When these stair trucks are also at the gate, the passenger bus appears, when it's not necessary since I'm at the gate.

It's not possible you would see stairs when there's a jetway on an FSDT airport, since they have jetways that GSX can recognize, so it won't display front stairs, just the rear one. This, of course, assuming you haven't customized the parking yourself and un-set the "Parking has a jetway" option, which was automatically and correctly set to enabled (if the parking has a jetway) by GSX.

The 737 NGX configuration that comes by default with GSX has only one front and one rear door so, on an airport with proper FSX jetways (like all FSDT airports), if you are on a parking with a jetway, you will see ONLY one stair, on the rear door. This can be optionally disabled too, with the relevant option in the GSX parking customization edito.

Instead, if you go to a 3rd party airport with static/fake jetways, that GSX cannot obviously recognize (since they don't exists as jetways, but are just generic polygons as if they were part of a building), it's normal you will see the front stairs too, because GSX cannot automatically detect the jetway. Which is why, the parking customization editor in GSX allows you to set the "Parking has a jetway" option, in order to help GSX detect a jetway on airports with fake/static jetways.

I have not customized the parking myself, and one of the airports in questions is one of yours, KORD. I was at the gate, and when I requested boarding, two stair trucks shows up, one on the left rear door, and one on the left front door, where the gangway has docked on to.

You don't say which gate, so it's not possible for us to check. But I can only repeat and confirm that it's not possible to happen on an FSDT airport, unless you customize it.

Of course, you can check if you have customized it and forgot about it, by going in the scenery customization page. The lines on the top will tell you if there's a customization file you made being used.

Good point, I'll go back and try to recreate the parking scenario and get back with you on which gate I found the problem. I don't touch the mess around with the customization page, never have, so I'm sure that is not the issue. I'm sort of the set it and forget it type of simmer when it comes to your scenery and products. I would hope that since it's your airports working with your GSX, that you would have set it up from the box to recognize which airport has gangways, and which spots are parkings out in the tarmac. Let me get back with you with much more detail, in order to resolve this mystery.
