couatl unable to start **SOLVED**
« on: September 29, 2015, 10:30:49 pm »
I just did a fresh install of P3D today, after being away for almost a year.  I have win 7 64 bit and P3D V2, running P3D in admin mode.  I installed KDFW and got the couatl.exe was unable to start correctly (oxc000007b).  I download the installer for KORD, since mine was older and did not have the P3D option.  I tried installing it and got the same message in startup.  I downloaded VC++ 2013 from the GSX forums, which did not help.  I also uninstalled DFW and ORD from the control panel as well as told it to remove the manager.   I then reinstalled and that did not fix the problem, also I do not run anti virus so there is no conflict there.

Any other ideas?

I installed KDFW and got the couatl.exe was unable to start correctly (oxc000007b).

Confirmed to be a problem with VC++ 2013 libraries not installed correctly, see here:

You MUST download the x86 version, yes, even on a 64 bit OS. If in doubt, download both the 64 bit version AND the x86 version, and restart Windows after installing the two libraries.

Thanks for the fast reply.  Love customer service like that.  Worked perfectly, I guess I missed the the x86 part on the other post.
