Zurich missing terminal and buildings **SOLVED**
« on: July 07, 2015, 07:05:31 pm »
Hey guys! Today, after a months of flight simulator inactivity, i opened an FSX again.
Then i found, that in all FSDT sceneries (Zurich, Geneva, Honolulu etc...), which i bought last year, i can see only jetways.
No airport buildings, vehicles, terminals are shown...Tried to deactivate, activate, install, reinstall sceneries again. Nothing happened.
More than that, every five seconds, screen freezing and reloading scenery within second.
Please, HELP!!!
P.S.
No problem with other non FSDT sceneries.

In addon manager menu, in all scenes, except FSDT scenes, i can see coualt engine menu. When i'm trying to load FSDT scene, couatl link in addon manager mising.

Are you saying that you DO have the Couatl menu normally, but it disappears as soon as you enter an FSDT scenery ?

Try to trash your preferences, by removing this folder:

%APPDATA%\Virtuali

If that doesn't work, try to install the Couatl 3 Public Beta here:

Thanks! Already tried to completely  remove %APPDATA%\Virtuali ... No changes. Tomorrow morning will try to use 2nd step.

So, tried all actions to bring my best FSDT sceneries back to life... Seems that no chances.

1. The most common case is a defective antivirus, which might be fixed this way:

Be sure you use the CURRENT version of the installer.

- DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL with the antivirus entirely OFF

- Uninstall GSX. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall GSX with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu

2. http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,12118.0.html

Explanation is easy (GSX is installed):

1. Loading FSX
2. Choosing LOWW for example (not FSDT scenery! If choose FSDT, only addon manager menu visible!). Both Addon Manager and Couatl Powered, visible in the menu
3. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+F12. See the GSX menu. Choosing request deboarding.
4. Nothing happened. Couatl powered menu dissapears... Only Addon manager menu left in column...

All the above procedure about the antivirus, according to your own report (which I asked to confirm), if it's true:

Quote
In addon manager menu, in all scenes, except FSDT scenes, i can see coualt engine menu.

Does NOT apply to you, assuming this is really the case, which is why I asked:

Quote
Are you saying that you DO have the Couatl menu normally, but it disappears as soon as you enter an FSDT scenery ?

If you DO have the Couatl menu normally (as you said above), but it disappear when moving to an FSDT scenery, everything related to antivirus, and similar issues related to missing menu items, doesn't not apply to you, because if you DO have the Couatl menu when FSX starts, it means everything is installed and is starting normally, but the program is instead crashing for some reason so, this doesn't have anything to do with the antivirus.

So, again, please confirm if you DO have the Couatl menu normally, but it disappears as soon as you enter an FSDT scenery.

Yes, sir. I confirm, that i do have couatl menu normally. Now will try to completely remove everything and install all back again in a right order (GSX first, Kaspersky off and so on)...
By the way, FSX folder completely excluded from antivirus scanning.

Now deinstall everything. Install only GSX. Both Addon manager and Couatl powered products in addon menu. Once i for exemple, requesting deboarding, it writes to me deboarding requested. Then nothing happening. Couatl menu missing again... Antivirus completely off...

Now we are getting somewhere. If I understood your explanation now, you have everything working fine, even on an FSDT airport, but Couatl quits as soon as you select any operation in GSX.

Antivirus completely off...

As I've said, if the modules are working at start, but they quit/crash when running, it's nothing related to the antivirus.

Check if you have the same issue with mis-typed paths for Simobjects folders in the FSX.CFG, which caused the same issue in this thread:

Well, mine is this:

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\IVAO_MTL
SimObjectPaths.6=Aerosoft\Split X\simobjects
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\UT2+ Aircraft

Which clearly explain the problem that, as expected, didn't had anything to do with any of our products, but was caused by a problem in your FSX.CFG.

You removed the "Misc" folder, which is one of the DEFAULT folders FSX comes with. So, you are not losing "just" FSDT airports, but also hundreds of default library objects. You probably did this when adding the IVAO_MTL folder, overwriting the 5th section (that by default points to the "Misc" folder), instead of adding it as a new 6th section.

This is how the paths are supposed to look like on a standard FSX installation:

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc

If you wanted to add some folders, you should have added them at the end, without removing any of the default paths, like this:

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\IVAO_MTL
SimObjectPaths.7=Aerosoft\Split X\simobjects
SimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.9=SimObjects\UT2+ Aircraft
