Planes not taking off **SOLVED**
« on: March 26, 2015, 10:39:20 pm »
Got a problem at KDFW. Ai planes are not being cleared to take off.
I deleted the scenery went back to the default and all was well. I reinstalled it and planes taxi onto the runway and just stay there. The only affected runways are 36R and 35L
Any ideas?

Something similar to whats happening here. I haven't modified any afcads though.

Sorry, but nobody ever reported this so far, surely not when using the AFCAD that comes with the scenery. Are you sure you are using that one ?

I'm positive Umberto. Should I see if there are any duplicates?

Yes, check with the FSX Airport Scanner program. If you have GSX, you can also use the "customize airport positions", to see what's the AFCAD in use.

Please forgive me for hijacking this thread. The ability to check AFCADs using GSX would be excellent! Would you kindly point me to a link to get the 'how to do it'?

Thanks

It was right there in my sentence:

And of course, it's explained on the GSX manual, Page 22, there's even a screenshot of it...

I am also having this problem.  When I get to my departure runway there are always several planes waiting to takeoff, but they never do.  My current AFCAD is AP_KDFW.BGL, and I am using MyTraffic X.

I'm having this issue as well but I am using the modified AFCAD that is available here in this forum.  For those of the rest of us having this issue are you also using a modified AFCAD or the one that came with the DFW package from FSDT?  Just trying to narrow down the possibilities...I am also using Prepar3D 3.0....what's everyone else using?

I have also had this issue - no extra AFCADS, happens with original and my modified AFCAD.  On 18L I am instructed to line up and wait, but never get a takeoff clearance.

FSX on Win 10 (X64)
Also using FS PassengersX and ASE for weather

Was using My Traffic Pro but have since uninstalled it and gone back to my own traffic , mostly AIG plans.  Have not tested since uninstalling My Traffic Pro

Still having problems with planes not being cleared to take off...no longer using My Traffic Pro, but using mainly AIG AI flightplans.  Today, waited for ages lined up for 36R behind a que of aircraft, none of whom were being cleared to take off.  There did not seem to be any aircraft landing this runway that was holding them up.  In the end I had to zap them out of the way.  when I did that, I was given immediate takeoff clearance for my user aircraft from the hold position for 36R.

Problem solved!!  For some reason, both the original installed AFCAD and my modification (made from original but with CW runways activated and extra parking) had all runways set to zero width.  In other words, there were runway link paths but no wide grey strip of runway.  I set the runway width for each runway (according to the "updated AFCAD" in this forum.  The grey runways then appeared in the AFCAD.  When I compiled and installed it, all the AI were taking off correctly.  Prior to this, they would only take off if they were first to the runway holding position and given immediate clearance for takeoff.  If they were number 2 in sequence and given a line up and wait clearance, they would line up but never received the clearance to take off.

You are correct and yes that solves the AI problem.  I had just this same thought the other day about the zero runway width possibly causing the issue but had not had time to test.  Unfortunately without the runway set to zero width the default grey runway shows up in the sim and you lose the photo-real runway from the scenery.  I did find a solution to this at least in Prepar3D 3.1....Airport Design Editor has an option I had not seen before to check "transparent" for the runway.  I adjusted all of the runway widths to their correct values and then made sure a checkmark was in the transparent box.  The photo runway shows up in the scenery and the AI works as expected with no problems.  I am not sure if this solution is available for FSX or not.  I don't believe it recognizes the transparent value for the runways...

If you have P3Dv3.3.5, try this file. I used DMullert's AFCAD and just tweaked in ADE making the runways transparent (shows the FSDreamTeam Runway Textures). No more issues with AI getting stuck, I use UT2 and everything is working fine. Hope this works for you.
