Gate E9 and GSX **SOLVED**
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:59:23 am »
Hi,

I own both GSX and KFLL. At the gate E9 the position GSX thinks is the gate does not match up with the scenery. I get the marshaller in the wrong place and the vehicles at odd angles (see attached screenshot). Not sure if this is a problem with GSX or KFLL.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dominic

Not sure if this is a problem with GSX or KFLL.

It's neither. The most likely cause, it's another AFCAD from another scenery in conflict. Check the GSX parking customization page, it will tell you the name of the AFCAD in use by GSX, so it will help finding the conflict.

Thanks for the prompt response. The AFCAD in use is APX26220.bgl- located in the FSX/Scenery/0302/Scenery/ folder

Should this file be disabled?

Thanks again,

Dominic

That's the default AFCAD.  Restart Couatl inside FSX and it will fix it.

I tried that, it still tries to use the default AFCAD.

Try to force an update of the scenery caches, by removing the following folders:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes
C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl

Start FSX and let FSX and GSX both refresh their scenery caches.

Thanks, I tried this. It took an age for FSX to restart and the scenery to load, but it didn't fix the issue. It's still trying to use the same AFCAD and the marshaller is still in the same (wrong) location.

That's not normal. The only possible explanation is, you MOVED KFLL in the Scenery Library, and now it has a lower priority compared to the default scenery.

The installer automatically put the airport on the highest level on the Scenery Library, but if you move it down, you'll risk causing conflicts between other AFCADs. GSX obviously respects the same priority as FSX, which means it will use the AFCAD of the scenery area which has an higher priority on the Scenery Library, just like FSX.

We had a couple of reports of people using 3rd party utilities to manage the Scenery Library, and maybe if you used such utility, the Scenery Library ordering has been changed, or maybe reversed, as if you changed the sorting order in a list, and save the list reversed from such utility.

Basically, the default scenery areas should be DOWN below, and the 3rd party airports should be on TOP of the list.

It is indeed very strange. KFLL is at the top of my scenery library, everything is below it.

What's the name of the .bgl of the correct AFCAD? I'd like to check if it's present on my installation.

The AFCAD that comes with the scenery is called AFX_KFLL.BGL, and it's located under FSX\fsdreamteam\KFLL\scenery.

Try to enable logging in the Troubleshooting section of the GSX Settings page, restart FSX and then post the Couatl.LOG you should see in your %APPDATA%\virtuali folder, after you go to KFLL and then quit from FSX.

You log shows you don't have installed FSDT KFLL, because it's not in the Scenery Library. I wonder how you can even SEE the scenery. Have you tried to install it manually or moved from the normal installation folder ?

No - I just installed using the normal download from your website and then purchased and activated through the installer within FSX.

No - I just installed using the normal download from your website and then purchased and activated through the installer within FSX.

Then you must have removed it from the Scenery Library. Your log clearly shows there's no KFLL in your scenery.cfg

It's POSSIBLE you have hand edited your scenery.cfg ? If there's a problem with it, such as an illegal comment or line, it's possible some areas won't be seen.

Please post the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg file, so I can check it.

It appears to be in my Scenery.CFG. I haven't edited by hand, I use the FSX Scenery Manager. I've attached the file.

Thanks.
