virtuali addon manager FSX Steam update
« on: December 20, 2014, 02:47:44 am »
Hello,

First thank you for the great addons and great support.

I have a quick question I have not seen anything on face book or here yet about it. I had a new update come up for the virtuali addon manager so I down loaded it and tried to install it but it throws this message up: "Sim .EXE file version is 10.0.61637.0 - This product requires FSX Steam Edition to be installed".

I did not continue with the update as I am running the old FSX.

1) Should I install this anyway? I ma not planning on getting Steam FSX version for now.
2) Where can I get the normal FSX Virtuali Addon Manager in future if I need to reinstall? I over wrote the old file with the new Virtuali addon mamanger.exe file.

Cheers
Sebastian

Sorry, there was a bug in the installer, download it again now if you don't use FSX:SE

Hi Umberto,

Just re-downloaded the installer and it is still bringing up the same message as before I am afraid.

Cheers

It's all fixed, try to clear your browser cache before downloading again.

Nope, sorry to say that I still get the "Steam"-versions. This is after clearing the cache and rebooting.

Hello Umberto,

As the above post cleaned the cache same issue. I just tried another PC on my network and still the same problem.

I am sure will get over this hickup soon enough.

Merry Christmas to all,
Seb

I can only repeat and confirm the problem was fixed with with latest installer. Check the digital signature date of the installer: it must be December 20th, time 20:05.

Cleaned cache, rebooted and downloaded again. I still get the "Steam"-version of both the Vancouver 1.4-patch and the standalone addon-manager as downloaded from the Vnacouver-page. Digital signature of the Vancouver-patch is 20 december, 20:10h.

I can only repeat and confirm that, with that version, the problem doesn't happen and the installation will go in FSX normally. If you have the Steam edition, they will ask if you want to install there. If you don't have it, you won't see any question and the installation will go into FSX.

I tried it just now with both the Stand-Alone Addon Manager installer and the CYVR installers. They all work fine.

Okay, just to be clear: the installers still throw up the message the OP mentioned, but I can ignore that message and it will install into the "regular" FSX?

The current installers don't show that message and no, you can't ignore it. As I've said, if you don't have FSX Steam edition, you won't see ANY message, except one that will just say the installation will go into FSX, but that's not an error, and surely doesn't look like one.

Here's the deal now. Downloaded Addon Manager on a stand alone computer that has FSX installed. Ran as admin and it installed fine. I figure this is good installer. So I burned it to a CD. Took it to the main computer. Copied it into the Downloads folder, ran it as admin and it's still looking for steam. Explain that.
