KJFKv2 CTD on Prepar3Dv2.3
« on: August 12, 2014, 02:25:20 pm »
I already mentioned this on General Forums but as I found out the Problem is only KJFKv2 and not others like KDFW, KLAX and KIAH, I felt it would be better to post this in the KJFK section. The problem I am having is when I load to KJFK through startup, I get a CTD as soon as I reach the sim itself. I can still load KJFK by going to Create Scenario via Flight Menu or go to Select Airport (also via Flight Menu).

As I've already replied to you in the General section, I already tried what you did, and there are no crashes in any case.

If it was the case, then there must be something going on at my side.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling JFK, using the current installer ?

I already did but I will try once more. I did the same method in FSX (as soon as I launch FSX or Prepar3Dv2.3, I get something like a Select Scenario (in Prepar3Dv2.3 I set it on) and then, select to load KJFK) but unlike Prepar3Dv2.3, no CTD.

Even redownloading and reinstalling KJFKv2 didn't work. When loading the default KJFK, no CTD.

Try with AI traffic turned off.

Try with AI traffic turned off.

I just turned AI off, restart P3Dv2.3, then before the sim loads, I select to load at KJFK, sim loads and no CTD. To conclude, the CTD is caused by a combination of KJFK and AI Traffic at 50% with 25% General Aviation Traffic. Thanks for your help.

It's caused ONLY by a corrupted/missing texture for one of your AI models, that because of the different schedule, parking assignment, airline assignment and parking density between the default JFK and FSDT JFK, doesn't appear on the default JFK, but you can be sure the problem is entirely related by one of your AI models.

Corrupt/missing textures in one of my AI Models? I only use default AI Models.

And what difference does it make ? Do you think default AI models and textures can't go missing or be corrupted ?

Missing/corrupted doesn't necessary mean they have been released as such by the developer, they might simply gone missing/corrupted on *your* system, for any number of reasons, including file system corruption.

You said with AI at 0% the crash doesn't happen. This clearly indicates the problem lies with one of your AI.

As I've said already, you can be easily mislead thinking FSDT JFK might have any part on this "because it doesn't happen on the default JFK", but that doesn't mean anything: the two airports have different parking assignments, different parking codes, different parking radiuses and even the number of parking spots is not the same, which means you will NOT have the same set of AI (even if all other settings are the same), and if the problematic AI is not showing up at default JFK, you'll have the wrong impression this might have anything to do with FSDT JFK, but it doesn't.

I redownloaded and reinstalled the full installer for Prepar3Dv2.3, tested with AI Traffic, load at KJFK at startup and still got a CTD. I discovered that if I set AI Traffic off but left General AI on at 25%, no CTD occurs if I load at KJFK from startup. I don't know if it is a Prepar3D problem or I have unluckly got a bad installer. I will try again but I will download individual parts instead to check my entire installer isn't corrupted (but still wondering why it still installs appearing like it was nothing).

I finished reinstalling Prepar3Dv2.3. I loaded at KJFK (with AI Traffic on at 50%) at startup and no CTD. Once again, thank you for your help.

Sadly, I started to have the CTDs again and at the same time, UK2000 EGLL Trial has the same problem too. As the AI I use is Prepar3D AI, I decided to talk to Lockheed Martin about the problem. I don't get how or why the AI Files got corrupted to begin with. Now, 25% GA AI Traffic can get me CTDs. Even redownloading or reinstalling Prepar3D is out of the question. I am wondering if either the files got corrupted overtime or when it was downloaded, the AI parts got corrupted and somehow, installation went fine.

I decided that I will not use Select Scenario via startup as it causes the CTD whenever I use it to load at KJFK or EGLL (strangely, Select Scenario via In-Sim Menu or Select Airport also via In-Sim Menu doesn't cause the CTD when it is used to load KJFK or EGLL even with AI Traffic on).
