AI Auto Traffic
« on: July 20, 2014, 09:23:03 am »
It appears that the airport comes with its own AI auto traffic (No trucks). Is there a way to adjust or use FSX auto traffic? Please understand I am NOT complaining because I am still so thankful for a wonderful job you have done. I might be wrong but, I am also suspicious that the full capabilities/features of this scenery have not yet been unleashed/revealed.

You probably just have your road traffic slider too high, I've never seen an airport come with its own.

If with "auto traffic", you mean the default cars that go on roads *outside* the airport, then no, we haven't added anything, they automatically populate any vector road you have for this area (either default or 3rd party), according to your road traffic density slider.

If, instead, you mean things that are moving *inside* the airport perimeter, then yes, we have some custom animated ground vehicles, that you can turn on/off with the relevant option in the Addon Manager.

Why would having the road traffic slider too high cause no road traffic?

The road traffic I am referring to is produced by "Ultimate Terrain X". When I disable FSDT KIAH, the road traffic is there however, when I enable FSDT KIAH, The traffic is only about 4 autos in constant pattern. Umberto, why would this be?

Likely because on the default scenery, the vector roads go closer to the airport.

What do you mean "vector roads go closer to the airport"? I am NOT referring to roads and traffic outside the airport, I am referring to roads in the airport grounds. I"m talking about the roadway to the arrival and departure terminals.

I am NOT referring to roads and traffic outside the airport, I am referring to roads in the airport grounds. I"m talking about the roadway to the arrival and departure terminals.

I don't see where's the difference, or how this would contradict in any way what I've said about vector roads.

You started by saying "I am referring to is produced by Ultimate Terrain X", and that IS A VECTOR product, and FSX will automatically populate such roads with cars, according to the road type and population density in that area.

As I've said, if the vector roads that comes with the default scenery OR with Ultimate Terrain (doesn't matter where they come from) goes very close to the airport, or like in this case, they also go INSIDE the airport perimeter, they will be populated by such traffic.

Since an addon airport excludes everything from the default scenery (or any vector add-on product) inside the airport perimeter, those cars will stop way earlier.

The obvious reason for this, is that we try to reserve as much memory and fps as possible for the scenery itself, and take under control what is displayed inside the airport perimeter.
