Cannot install CYVR
« on: May 20, 2014, 05:34:02 pm »
Hi there,
i installed CYVR now several times, but everytime i want to start FSX+ACC it crashes---FSX doesn`t work any longer--and so on.
OS WIN7 64bit,FSX+ACC
Installed only all ORBX sceneries and airports and MyTraffic X.
Disabled ESET NOD32 during download and installation.
Excluded bglmanx and couatl in NOD32.
Set FTX Central to Global before installing CYVR
KLAX is working fine.

KLAX is working fine.

That seems to indicate there's nothing wrong with our software, which is one and the same for KLAX, CYVR and all the other products so, you can safely discount any issues with antivirus, etc.

It seems to indicate you have a problem with CYVR, the most likely issue, is you have a missing/corrupted texture for an AI, so you are mislead thinking it has something to do with FSDT CYVR. Note that, because of different gate assignments between default and FSDT CYVR, it might not be noticeable if you uninstall CYVR, but still being an AI problem.

You might be able to identify what FSX module is crashing with the Windows Event Viewer, in the Admin Tools section of the Control Panel, and see all your recent crashes for FSX.EXE, the Details should indicate which module has crashed.

There is another short message at the end of the installation of YVCR which is nearly unreadable.
Something like "the model.cfg needed is not installed, bur it doesn`t matter".
But that comes and goes so fast, you can`t nearly read it.
Does this help?

As discussed many times already on the forum about the meaning of that message, it's simply a progress indication that says, since the product that file is related to is not installed, there's no need to update it so, it's absolutely normal, it won't make much sense updating a file for something you don't have, and that message is just saying that.

Your crash log shows a generic FSX crash. It doesn't show a crash in any of our two software modules ( bglmanx.dll and Couatl.exe ), which seems to confirm the problem doesn't have anything to do with FSDT CYVR and its installation.

As I've said in my previous message, since the most common cause of random crashes at an airport are AI models, a first step would be trying the airport with Traffic at 0%. If it doesn't crash, at least you would know for sure it's an AI issue.

No luck---no CYVR.

If you mean you tried with AI at 0% and FSX still crashes, it simply means you exclude ONE possible cause so, on to the next one.

Just to be 9999% sure it's nothing in our software, try to disable the Addon Manager and Couatl programs. To do this:

- To disable the Addon manager, open the %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX\DLL.XML file with Notepad, and look for these lines:

<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>bglmanx.dll</Path>

change <Disabled>False</Disabled> into <Disabled>True</Disabled>

- To disable the Couatl scripting engine, open the %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX\EXE.XML file with Notepad, and look for these lines:

<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>Couatl.exe</Path>

change <Disabled>False</Disabled> into <Disabled>True</Disabled>

The four BGL`s int he fsdt\CYVR folder must be set on---correct?

CVX_CYVR.BGL
CYVR_AP.BGL

i did want you wanted.the same.

Now we are 100% sure it's NOT an FSDT problem, not at least something that has anything to do with our software modules.

Well, they don't really do much, there's the AFCAD, the jetways, the flatten file, and an exclusion file for some default smaller airfields in the area. 99% of the scenery is not made as .BGLs however, if you want even further proof that your crash doesn't have anything to do with the scenery, you can try disabling them too.

If you still get a crash after disabling them, then it's something in the CYVR *area*, but nothing made by us.

Thank you,Umberto.
Good to know that your airport isn`t the reason for the crashes.
Holger from the FTX Site is trying to help me,i hope he will find a solution.

Hi Umberto,
seems you are right

""It seems to indicate you have a problem with CYVR, the most likely issue, is you have a missing/corrupted texture for an AI""

I`ve set the slider from the Ships and ferries traffic to zero today----and now i have CYVR back, hallelujah!
I have many ai ship traffic files from Henrik Nielssen installed, also from Misty Mornings and that seems to be the problem. Now i`m really missing this fine ship traffic, but i`m very happy to have your great CYVR back.
Thank you very much for your help!
Mike
