GSX Menu does no longer pop up
« on: April 15, 2014, 08:27:21 am »
Hi ,
i am using GSX and have no Problems in P3D v 2.2 but in FSX all of a sudden the menus do no longer popup. I tried to reinstall already but no change. Also the addon manager has this issue. Coatl and addon manager are shown under addons menu but nothing happens if i klick them. So i can't even change the log settings. Can i change the logging option with an editor in a file on the harddisk to find out whats going on ? Any suggestions ?

I love my GSX and i don't want to miss it ;)
Best regards and many happy landings

Ok i checked some more things ...

I set the manual load Option to true in dll.xml and tested every addon. Now my big Problem is if i load FSUIPC 4.2.9 there is no more acces to GSX. The menu is shown in addons but nothing happens if i click a menu item of GSX or the addon Manager. If i do not load FSUIPC everything is working fine. I already reinstalled FSUIPC and set the fsuipc.ini back to default. But still no success ... I also checked keymappings.ini and other suggestions from posts here. My Problem is that i need FSUIPC for the home cockpit. :-\

There is one entry in Couatl.err:

So i have no more idea - the Couatl.err log file had not changed until friday ... and i think since that Moment i have the Problem. I even don't think that there might be a problem because i have installed Phyton 2.7 for X-Plane 10 plugins.

Prepar 3D v2.2 still is working fine with GSX and FSUIPC installed ...
Best regards and many happy landings

I see you use Windows 8, try to be sure you have any "Compatibility" mode for FSX.EXE turned off.

If you have another add-on that starts together with FSX and is running under Compatibility mode, it's possible that the effect would be the same. Also, do you confirm that, if you don't run FSUIPC, the Addon Manager works normally ?

Yes that is the problem - Addon Manager and GSX run perfect without loading FSUIPC in FSX. In Prepar3D everything work fine together. Already tried to uninstall FSUIPC and reinstalled with no effect. And the strange thing about this issue is that everything worked fine before.

Try to change the loading order of the two modules in the DLL.XML file.

I have FSX.exe in compatible mode for Windows 7 & my GSX seems to be working correctly..  Plus it got rid of my ridiculous ntdll.dll errors by doing this.. But far as GSX my GSX seems to be working.. Just to throw it in there..

If you are referring to running GSX under Windows 8, using the Windows 7 compatibility mode, that's maybe not a problem, since Windows 7 is not really different, with regards to file locations, permissions and video drivers compatibility modes.

The real issue, which will create problems, is running under Windows 7, with an "XP" Compatibility mode, because that will completely change system file locations, and will force video drivers running into a different mode (WDDM 1.0, compared to WDDM 1.1 used by Windows 7), that usually creates visual problems, like disappearing objects.

I have windows 7 64 bit.. FSX I just moved back & let it drop in its normal C:/Programs(86)/ Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flightsim X

After getting all my planes back on & scenery & UT2, everything was still running good no errors.. Once I started filling in my AI planes for UT2.. I  Started getting my errors back for ntdll.dll, I ran across a video saying it may or may not work for me but it was worth the try..  That was going into my main FSX.exe & right clicking & going to properties & making FSX compatible with Windows 7 which I did & seem for now anyway to take care of my errors I was getting.. Because I was getting errors with just the default Cessna 172 after the AI planes load up I'd get the circle & then the error & when I checked with a program that tells you about errors, it always said ntdll.dll.. Nothing before was helping me but after I changed it to compatible with Windows 7, all errors seem to stop coming & it seems to be working a lot better now.. I ran check on my GSX & GSX is even working like it should. After reading the fellow that wrote this question on the forum & I was just putting it out there that I haven't noticed any issues with my GSX working improperly just from making FSX.exe compatible with Windows 7..

However it may not work for everyone but its worth the try if your like me & was getting a lot ntdll.dll errors just by loading up FSX.
