3gb patch and cloud9 sceneries.
« on: June 26, 2008, 04:09:13 pm »
Hello,

As far as I undertstand, all FSDT sceneries for FS2004 should be reinstalled in order to have 3GB patch working. Does the same relate to cloud9 sceneries?

Thanks

PS. Actually, I'm little bit nervous about doing this, so I'd like to get as much valuable information as I can before aplly 3GB patch

Thanks

You don't have to reinstall any scenery, in order to use the >2GB patch. You just run the Stand Alone Addon Manager, and will automatically get the correct version for you FS9.EXE. Just ensure you have the latest version of the installer, the one that always gets the latest version of the Addon Manager from the Internet.

Of course, if you don't also have the latest version of each scenery, you'll need to update that ones as well, but the program will warn you about which sceneries are not up to date.

Thanks Umberto,

I presumed that FS9.exe should be patched as well as boot.ini should be modified - correct? I'm not sure about this, since I've read on some boards, that modifiying boot.ini alone without patching FS9.exe is OK. There is too much contradictory information that I don't know whom to believe.

Yes, you need to modify boot.ini ( on XP ) or use bcdedit (on Vista), and then you also need to patch FS9.EXE. After having done these modifications, run our Stand Alone Addon Manager installer again, so it will download the correct version for the .EXE you have.
