Photoreal scenery
« on: January 10, 2012, 09:03:16 pm »
I read some discussion about the use of photo-real scenery around KJFK.  I have never used it and was wondering about  fraps hit using it. Any recommendations on some products out there? I am currently using Megascenery X and I am thinking of an upgrade...............Thanks Otto

I'm using MegaScenery Cities for the entire NYC area along with FSDT JFK, and it all works fine for me.

I also have Megascenery X installed but it seems to lack detail around Manhattan. I thought that Megascenery was supposed to help with fraps and provide alot more detail.

Megascenery Earth for New York area will give you a huge amount of detail. Aerosoft's ManhattanX will give you incredible detail of the island of

Manhattan.

I have no problem with detail using MegaSceneryEarth, you can see what I mean in this video I did last summer flying around NYC.

Yes I do. JFK is from FSDT, LaGuardia is from ImagineSim, Citi Field and Yankee Stadiums are freeware addons I found on AVSIM library.

I have all of the software you mentioned. Being that you have the same hardware I wonder if you might be able to explain an anomally I have noticed.

The wake of the Staten Island Ferry goes straight up in the air instead of on the water like yours does.  I have had these programs for years and I only

noticed this after I added a freeware addon showing the newly partially completed WTC1 Tower. I have since removed this program but I am still seeing

this anomally. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Manhattan X. I tried the Aerosoft Forum but they were absolutely no help!

Thanks
Dave

Dave, I'm not sure why you are having the wake anomally. Must be something to do with some other AI wak effect you've added that is perhaps causing conflict with Aerosoft wake effect. Couldn't tell you because I only stick mainly to payware addons, and very seldom do I venture into some other freeware that has some sort of animation effect. Perhaps smarter simmers than me can answer such a question.
