No wheels
« on: January 22, 2009, 12:31:25 am »
I just bought KJFK, and on my first daylight taxi out I met a number of vehicles without any wheels - example attached. At least two different types of vehicles showed this, but I also met the same vehicle types with wheels on other airport locations.

Any idea what might have caused this - and how I can fix it?

Not sure what information is relevant here, but I'm running FSX SP2 on XP SP3.

Cheers,
Tom

Are you sure you are not using a fairly distant viewpoint ? Because, in that case, it's the effect of LOD, that helps keeping the fps up, by not displaying polygons after a certain distance from the eyepoint.

Try to go closer, and see if the model gets more complex (it should...)

You are probably right - as I taxi around the airport, when a pushback truck is coming into view in what I would call an intermediate distance it sometimes is wheel-less. The wheels then appear as it gets closer.

Is there some way of tweaking this behavior that I can try to have the wheels appear a bit sooner? It is somewhat disturbing as it is.
