Title: Addon Manager does not appear! **SOLVED**
Post by: mrboeing on January 26, 2014, 01:14:40 am
Hello! I just installed KDFW on my computer and now I'm trying to activate it through the addon manager, but it does not show up in fsx. I've googled around and i saw that I'm not the first one to encounter this problem. I tried all the suggestions I could find, but nothing helps. I need help!

- DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL with the antivirus entirely OFF

- Uninstall the scenery. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Be sure you ARE being asked permission to run both modules at start. Be sure you reply YES to both.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu.

Okay, the thing is that I don't have any anti-virus program running or installed at all. Is there anything I can turn off inside Windows? I think I've tried all of your suggestions that I found on the internet forum etc. I removed FSX Acceleration temporarily and all  the associated files inside WinSxs but that made my FSX Acceleration not be able to reinstall so I installed FSX SP1 and SP2 so FSX runs ok now but Addon Manager is still not showing. I think that there is an application disturbing it as you mentioned earlier in this forum but I can't find it. Can you help me? I've been working on this problem for at least 24 working hours straight but I can't sort it out! I really want my Dallas scenery to work. Is it possible to get a refund if it doesn't work out?

Have you been asked permission to run both the Addon Manager and the Couatl modules when you started FSX ? If you don't remember, redo all the Uninstall/Reinstall, don't skip THIS step:

Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

And reinstall, them PAY ATTENTION if you are being asked permission to run both modules at start and report back.

I've not received that question from FSX upon startup. I checked the FSX.cfg and it trusts that software without me telling it to and it appears in the dll.xml as well... but still not in FSX when running the simulator. What should I do?

Go to the Control Panel, under "Internet Options", look for the "Content" tab, there should be a "Publishers" button, that will list the software publishers that you trusted, and another tab with untrusted publishers. If you see "Virtuali s.a.s", remove it from both tabs (especially if it's under untrusted)

Then, redo all the Uninstall/Reinstall, don't skip THIS step:
