Title: Terrible Frames after My Traffic 2013 Install
Post by: liambailey3 on December 28, 2013, 06:03:44 am
Please somebody help me.  I bought fsdreamteam O'hare for FSX yesterday and absolutely loved it.  I then bought my traffic 2013.  Problems occurred.  When I went to O'hare the frame were just awful.  8 fps.  Even when i changed the sliders nothing changed.  100% traffic was the same as 1% traffic.  At all other airports including Aerosoft Hamburg 2012 my frames are picture perfect.  35+ frames.  Just fsdreamteam O'Hare.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mytraffic comes with duplicate AFCAD's, or "sceneries" that usually display on top of the Fsdreamteam one, displaying 2 sceneries. That's what's causing 8 fps.

1st, download the FSX airport scanner here: http://www.fscommunity.info/2013/01/fsx-airport-scanner/ Scan for duplicates at "KORD", remove any that are from "Mytraffic".

If you still have low FPS, come back and report:

1. What aircraft using
2. Where your view point is
3. System specs.

Thanks for the response! I'll be sure to try that out when I wake up tomorrow and report back! It's 2 am where I live I tomorrow is the day. Thanks again so much.

Okay so I got the scanner and there's a problem.  I went to go scan my "scenery.cfg" just like it told me and when i put KORD in, it said that there were no results and it couldn't find it.  I'm kind of confused.  "Hnla" what am I doing wrong? I'm sorry if I'm kind of stupid with the whole thing here.

Also I can't find it in the cfg file when I go in and check.  It just says Area 120 is add on scenery and that's where it stops.  I checked both in my FSX main folder and my appdata/roaming/fsx/scenery.cfg and it's the same.  Could this be why the program doesn't recognize when I type in KORD?

Yeah that's not the correct one. It should be: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

The scenery.cfg in the FSX folder isn't the right one.

If the location was correct, and KORD simply isn't in the list of airports, than that means there weren't any duplicates.
This doesn't mean there still aren't any duplicates, it just means the scanner didn't pick it up. You will have to manually search for it.

If that's the case, report back with:

1. What aircraft using
2. Where your view point is
3. System specs.

It's also possible the scenery.cfg is corrupted, because you have hand-edited and introduced some kind of syntax error, which confuse the FSX Airport Scanner AND will result in FSX not finding all airports.

Yeah I checked both cfg and they are the exact same and say they were last edited in 2007.  I'm confident the duplicate files is causing the problem but don't know how to fix it.  Also I used the fsx tweaker. Venebudo I think it's called. Something like that. So yes my cfg has been tweaked.  My POV didn't matter. At the airport every view had the same bad frame rate.  I was using the PMDG 737 but using a trike to test it had the same frames. Maybe like 14 with the trike but 8 with pmdg.

PC Specs

-AMD 8320 8 Core CPU @ 4.2 GHz
-MSI 7870
-8 gigs of 1600 MHz RAM
-GIGABYTE motherboard

The correct path for the scenery.cfg is in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX.

What you see in the FSX root folder is JUST a backup that was made at installation time, which contains only default sceneries. Not sure how you also have a copy in the Roaming folder, possibly because different account settings when you originally installed FSX, and that looks like is the default backup copy too.

Found 2 duplicates!  How do I delete them cause I can't find them in my scenery cfg.

The duplicates are...

-LAYER 122
-Active
-C:\FSX\FsDreamTeam\OHareX\scenery\AP_KORD.bgl

-LAYER 116
-Active
-C:\FSX\MyTraffic\scenery\BR2_KORD.BGL

-LAYER 116
-Active
-C:\FSX\MyTraffic\scenery\BR2_KORD.BGL

Remove this.

All it says in the cfg is layer=116 not the BR2_KORD.BGL

I don't know why this is so hard...

Use the Duplicate scanner program:

-Set FSX location to your FSX location
-Set scenery.cfg location to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

Run the scanner, scroll down the list of airports to KORD

Remove "BR2_KORD.BGL" from the list.

Removed it. Now there's no duplicates but no FPS change.

You might still have a duplicate scenery the FSX Airport Scanner doesn't find. You said:

So, it's clear the problem is a duplicate file from My Traffic 2013, if the FSX Airport Scanner can't find it, you must look for it and remove it manually.

Nope.  There's no more duplicates anywhere.  What are my options now?  It's maybe 4-5 fps better but that's it.  No where near what it was before my traffic.  I hope you guys can provide some insight cause I'm not sure what more I can do but uninstall one of the add ons.  I really, really don't want to do that but I'm afraid if you guys are not sure what else to do than I have to.   :(

There must be some, otherwise you would have seen such fps drop after installing My Traffic. However, note that, it's not as if you don't have duplicates anymore, that AI traffic can't slow down the scenery anymore.

No where near what it was before my traffic.

There are two possible options:

1) If you see a big fps increase with AI Traffic slider to 0%, then the problem is caused by too man/too slow AI models.

2) If you see a very small fps increase with AI Traffic slider to 0%, resulting in fps MUCH lower than it used to be before installing My Traffic 2013, then the problem is caused by a duplicate AFCAD.

What are my options now?

Probably posting on My Traffic support forum something along the lines of "I had good fps at KORD, which collapsed as soon as I installed My Traffic 2013". They might have a better idea *where* you could look for possible AFCAD conflicts.

Ok I posted in Aerosoft's forum.  What do you think are the odds of a fix being discovered?  And is this kind of the end of the road for this topic on this forum?
