Title: bglmanx.dll error - ** POST ONLY HERE**
Post by: asmmag on October 28, 2013, 09:38:10 pm
Hello FSDT!
I've been looking in the forum solutions for this error!
I tried but still did not work!
I have the following products: GSX, KLAX, KDFW and Chicago O Hare.
And now??

In case I do not have anti virus installed.
I deleted FSX and installed it again, only have FSX without any addon.
What should I do??

In my case, UAC is off - DEP is off too.
I tested Simconect.ini and gives the following message: 0.01684 Exe Launched Path = 'fsdreamteam \ couatl \ couatl.exe "CommandLine =" "Version 2.0.0.2354"

Also reinstalled VS2005.

I do not know what else to do!! Please help me!

It has been discussed many times already, for example here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,8334.msg68298.html#msg68298

As you can see, it's not a problem of our module, it's always something else that is affecting it. In this case, another FSX addon which wasn't fully compatible with Windows 7+ forced the Compatibility mode for FSX, which shouldn't be used.

Ok understand ....
I've read some threads on the subject, but still not working.
At the moment my only FSX with FSUIPC is installed and nothing more.
And why does not work? Had to reinstall fsx all over again.
And it works! What can be?

So it works now ? If yes, that's likely you had a problem with your VC++ runtime libraries, which is one (not the only one, but one of them) of the causes of that error, that the FSX installer was able to fix.

Sometimes is not needed to really reinstall FSX, but just doing a "Repair".

So here we go!
I formatted my PC, reinstalled W7 Ultimate and FSX.
Also installed the addon manager again, and the error continues!
Again uninstalled the addon manager, cleaned the cfg, C + + installed and rebooted the PC.
And tried again ..... still the same error!
4 hours and could not make it work! Help me!

I formatted my PC, reinstalled W7 Ultimate and FSX.

That wouldn't work, you will probably have to install all Windows Updates too.

I have removed all identical threads about this error. Please don't open identical threads for the same issue, which has been discussed many times in any case. Opening identical threads won't make your problem getting any more attention, it will only DELAY response time, because it will only duplicate support efforts in monitoring and replying to all identical threads. So, please, use only ONE thread, if the issue is the same.

I'm still entirely unable to replicate this problem, other than I sometimes get it randomly from all modules for all developers, but it happens like once in a month.

It seems strange that several users have reported it all at the same time yesterday. Is there something other software update that just came out you all installed ? A new antivirus update ? A new Windows Update ?

Just as a safety measure, I've re-uploaded all the bglmanx* files on both servers so, if you had the problem, try to reinstall any product (a scenery, GSX, or the Stand-Alone Addon Manager) now, and see if the problem goes away.

Hi, big problem today! I fly to KLAX (in Trail-Version) today. In the near off LA I use the Addon-Manager in FSX to buy the KLAX from FSDream online. After putting in the Serial I get a crash off the FSX. After restart the Programm ther is an errormessage to deinstall the bglmanxx and the Libary-manager. I doen´t want to do this, but then the FSX get a crash wile loading. When I doen´t start the Manager, the FSX goes up, but in there, there is no Addon-manager and no GSX, KLAX and so on.
Can you help me?

As I've said:

f you had the problem, try to reinstall any product (a scenery, GSX, or the Stand-Alone Addon Manager) now, and see if the problem goes away.

Have you done that ? Even if the program hasn't changed, I've changed the version number to be 2.9.0.9, so you would know if you have the most updated version.

I had an AVG Update a few days ago but it wasn't working before this. I have placed in exceptions for the .exe and bglmanx files, I have reinstalled all visual libraries, reinstalled FSX 4 Times, and Add-on Manager is the first thing I install and still, nothing :(

UAC is off, and that other one you posted to do with the CMD is done. I am running FSX As Administrator and tried running couatl as admin. No compatibility is set and FSX cannot be changing because there is nothing else installed into it.

I am stuck :O

Thanks,
Callum

Could this be a problem with the last update off the addon-manager? Before that I use the version .8? Maybe it is this, because all other Addons work in FSX without these off FSDream??
I reinstall now all off my FSD Airports and GSX and hope that will work. If not, I spend a lot of money for FSD and I think they will help us.

The installer hasn't changed version, the .DLL which is downloaded online has.

Still not working

So that's seems to indicate the problem wasn't a corrupted file on one of the servers or something like that. The only option left, is there's some kind of incompatibility with some other software or update you have in your system.

Do you have Teamviewer ? If yes, PM to arrange a session. If not, just download it, it's a free download.

Really after 8 hours trying to fix this problem ... I give up!!
I spent almost 100 euros for 4 products and can not use because of a dll!!!
I did all the procedures described in the forum, and nothing!
My final attempt will be to go to a nearby store, buy the W8 and see what happens.
With all due respect, I feel frustrated with all this.

May be it is not interesting but the issue tells me this details:
bglmanx Dynamic Link Library
Version: 2,9,0,9
File: bglmanx.dll

Why Version 2,9,0,9? Iff you install the addon-manager there is Version 2.9.0.8 !!

May be this as something to do with the problem?

My last reply wasn't "this morning". Don't be confused with time zones and times indicated on the forum, which should also explain why you wouldn't see answers all over the 24 hours cycle.

My last reply here was 30 MINUTES AGO, because I've spent the last 30 minutes with ANOTHER user on Teamviewer investigating this issue, and I'm STILL connected to him, I've just spared 2 minutes to reply to your nonsensical post about the supposed "lack of support", which is even more offensive than it seems, when you are supporting one user and replying on another one AT THE SAME TIME.

Of course, we found the issue and, guess what, it wasn't a bglmanx.dll problem but, instead, a problem with the user who configured the P3D support in the wrong way, not according to our instructions.

That doesn't mean YOURS is the same problem. There are many possible causes for this error, we found one, yours might be different, even if the message you see is the same. The message is just a generic message that "something" is wrong.

Post by: virtuali on October 29, 2013, 03:45:18 pm
I've finished the Teamviewer session with cj_strawbs, we found the cause of his problem and was due to the following:

- The Addon Manager (bglmanx.dll) has a special mode of operation when used with P3D AND the Prepar3D Migration Tool. Since that tool "fools" applications to make them believe they are running under FSX, when in fact P3D is running, this wouldn't normally work with the Addon Manager, which must really know if it's running under P3D or FSX, because it needs to access specific memory areas which are different between the two. This won't be a problem with just P3D or FSX, the problem happens ONLY if using the P3D Migration Tool in Legacy mode.

- In order to overcome this issue, the Addon Manager can be forced to work in P3D mode even if it's being fooled by the Migration tool, using an environment variable. We explained the procedure here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,7237.0.html

With a sample batch file that, as you can see, SETS the variable before calling Prepar3d.EXE and UNSET the variable on exit. This for the precise reason that in case you want to run FSX after that, the variable must be cleared, otherwise the Addon Mananger will still run in P3D mode, even under FSX.

Unfortunately, cj_strawbs probably thought that, instead of using such batch file, he could achieve the same by setting a *permanent* environment variable, and that caused the crash, because now the Addon Manager was stuck in P3D mode, even when launched from FSX.

So, if you have the AddonManagerForcedVersion variable set to something, and run FSX, this will crash causing that error. Removing the variable from the permanent environment variables, fixed the problem for cj_strawbs. You can check your environment variables as explained here:

http://blogmines.com/blog/2010/02/12/how-to-change-environmental-variables-on-window-7/

As I've said, this was the cause on cj_strawbs system, it doesn't necessarily mean it will fix the issue on YOUR systems too, but it might be worth checking.

Hello to all, I've just finished the Teamviewer session with asmmag, and the issue was entirely different this time. Yes, even if the message "looks" the same, the problem was totally different.

Still related to Prepar3D, but in a different way. This time, I must admit it WAS a bug of the Addon Manager, there was a problem detecting the correct version of the program, which has been introduced when adding support for Prepar3D 2.0...:)

The issue is, the problem happened ONLY if the Addon Manager needed to display one of the FSX standard dialogs like the reactivation warning or the scenery outdated warning, if it had nothing to say, the problem would go unnoticed, this because the .DLL in FSX and Prepar3D 1.x that generated alert messages has *changed* its name in P3D 2.0, so the Addon Manager was trying to call an non existing library, because it incorrectly assumed it was running under the P3D 2.0 Beta...

The fixed files are online now, if you reinstall anything (a scenery, GSX, the Stand-Alone Addon Manager) you'll get them and will hopefully fix the problem for most of the remaining users that still had it, provided we don't find yet another reason for it...

I'm sorry, because this one was an oversight that was really my fault but, at least, you now know that all our products will be compatible with P3D 2.0 from DAY ONE, since we are already working on it.

OK now what about us running FSX??

Re-read my message carefully: the program *wrongly* believed it was running under P3D 2.0, when in fact it was FSX running, THAT was the problem!

No need to download anything, just reinstall a scenery, GSX or the Stand-Alone Addon Manager. The installer will always take the online version of the dll.
