Title: FSDT Vancouver released!
Post by: virtuali on January 05, 2013, 12:15:06 am
FSDT is pleased to announce the release of their latest scenery, Vancouver International Airport (CYVR), the first FSDT scenery covering a Canadian airport.

This scenery improves over the previous KLAX airport, and introduces a novel method to render lighting and shadows, using the new Dynamic Shadows Technology, which combines the fps friendliness and quality of pre-rendered shadows, but change over the course of the day, to represent a realistic and ever changing view of the airport under different light conditions.

Over a year of fully-time development, at twice the size in polygonal complexity and textures of the previous KLAX airport, this is FSDT biggest scenery so far.

The scenery also features a perfect integration with GSX (which is free to use at CYVR), and we have a LAUNCH PROMOTION OFFER for existing GSX customers: if you already purchased GSX, inserting the following Coupon Code:

HAVEGSX

when ordering Vancouver, will get you a 20% DISCOUNT on its price! This offer lasts only until the end of January 2013.

Download the scenery Demo version from the FSDT website now:

Wonderful...but you might want to take a bit of a closer look at your web page:

Quote
Vancouver International Airport, it'sa scenery developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) and Prepar3D, depicting the world famous LAX International Airport, see the Wikipedia Article here for more informations about the airport. The scenery already represent the airport in its planned status for 1st quarter 2012, according to the TBIT Reconfiguration Program.

Happy New Year

Looks great!

From what I have read there will never be a scenery for FS9 again from FSDT. Unfortunate as thats what I use but oh well, it is what it is. At least they did LAX for FS9! (Still a HUGE thanks for that guys!)

Just departed YVR enroute to CYLW WJA736. Gotta say the wait was worth it. As expected frames are a bit choppy but I have some tweaking to do. Out of the box with PNW, Van3 and the NGX, my aging i7 950 is giving me a reletively smooth 12-16fps on the ground. Notas bad as I thought. I have waited a long long time for my home airport to be spiced up and you guys delivered! Thanks a ton!

Congrats.

Awesome so far. I flew around in a Cerasim Bell 414 with autogen at dense and water 2X mid range. I have PNW also. Frames ran smooth for me though the Ulttraffic2 is set low for ORBX as recommended. Switched over to my PMDG 737 for a taxi and takeoff. Frames in the 22-30 range when looking around in the cockpit on day time takeoff. Running I7 2500K at 4.6GZ on a Nvidia 470 stock settings. Will try PMDG flight tomorrow and see if I get the CTD like some have reported. The key seems to just except the complexity of running PNW, CYVR along with PMDG and keep bars not so high. Thats what I have to do with ORBX when flying in Australia at the ORBX major airports. Wonderful job and thanks for taking time to get it perfect. Tim Murphy ;D

Only time I get a crash is during shutdown in the NGX. Once the fuel switches are off and the jetway starts to move it crashes to desktop with no explanation. I remember having this issue when I first got fs2crew.

So only for GSX customers.  Pity about that, guess this can now be put on the backburner.

"Everybody" has GSX...using FSX without it it's unconceivable...:)

However, how many other developers gives discounts on a product just launched, for *existing* customers ? It's not that CYVR is an upgrade of anything else, we shouldn't supposed to offer any discount to begin with.

A fair point it just that in the initial buzz people on other forums referred to there being a 20% discount without adding the caveat that you had to have GSX.  To get GSX now and then CYVR at 20% off would set me back over 70 USD - a bit much at the moment especially as GSX is not a particular priority.  Will probably wait and see how CYVR performs with the PMDG 777 when it is released.

Our launch promotion message, which was sent to all forum users (more than 8500), was very clear about being reserved to existing GSX customers, we can't be responsible if other forums reports missing informations about it.

And BTW, the whole point of making an offer for existing users, would require to have purchase "something". We chose GSX, because it's our best selling product, in order to allow the largest numer of users to get advantage of the offer.

In that case why not any of your products? I have most of them just not GSX.

That's simple, because we want to promote GSX at the same time. As I've said, it's not that discounting CYVR at launch should be a given. Most of companies discount older products.

Besides, since you said you own many of our products already, and GSX it's FREE (entirely free) to use there, there's no reason not to install it, so I'm sure you'll end up purchasing it anyway (to use it everywhere) after trying it.

I have CYVR installed into P3D4.5.  I had to register the product three times before the P3D activation window came up.  And when I switch view or move gate, I often get a jetways only view with no buildings.  Quite deflating. And this has then required me to re-register all over again.  Am I holding my mouth wrong?

Do you have the latest GSX installed ? CYVR requires it (it's free here).

If yes, do you have the GSX menu under the "Addons" menu of the sim ? If no,  the thread named "Addon Manager not showing up in P3Dv4 **SOLVED**" thread lists all the known solutions for missing menu entries from the "Addons" menu:
