Title: Zurich 2.0 for FSX released
Post by: virtuali on July 28, 2011, 01:38:46 pm
We released today the 1st step of the previously announced Zurich 2.0, see this thread for more details about it:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=4380.0

The update offers the following enhancements:

- Better night textures, see the screenshots in the above thread for comparison with the previous 1.5.2 version

- Almost all textures reworked even at day, with more pleasing colors, better specular mapping and bump mapping

- Increased LOD and visibility ranges for many objects, this will allow the scenery to work better with wider zoom settings.

- Fixed autogen exclusion around the airport

- ParkMe and YouControl. The previous version safegates (made with FS8 technology) have been replaced with the native FSX models from ParkMe/GSX, this will allow for better visuals, interaction and performances too.

- YouControl menu, with the ability to control the aperture of the sunshades on the main Central Terminal

- Better AFCAD with more airlines assignments and crosswind runways.

- Lots of other minor fixes

The update is free for all previous Zurich customers, and can be installed by simply downloading the new Zurich installer on the "Products" page. There's no upgrade patch, since almost all files have been changed, and there wasn't any significant size saving by doing a patch. It's suggested you uninstall the current version first, of course activation won't be affected at all.

The next update will feature the new Terminal B, and will be released before the new Terminal will be operative in the real airport.

Before anyone asks, the FS9 version will be done, and will released after KLAX is released, and it possible it will also include the new Terminal B already.

The reason why we are not releasing it for FS9 now, it's both because the update work is quite significant (Zurich was developed before we had a better workflow to convert sceneries from FSX), and because most of main things added in the fist update, like better bump/specular textures, ParkMe, YouControl, were mainly relevant to FSX anyway.

Jetways were already FSX native before, it's the docking systems which have been upgraded to be FSX native, but they don't affect jetways.

However yes, there's seems to be a problem with that model, replace this .BGL in the fsdreamteam\ZurichX\scenery folder to fix it.

Umberto,

If I have V2 installed should it say in the addon manager something like Zurich X V2, because im not sure if I installed it correctly.

The installed scenery version is indicated in the Windows Control Panel, under the "Add/Remove" section.

You have to wait for an AES update for the 2.0 version, and turn it off at Zurich in the meantime. Native FSX jetways will of course work.

Thanks umberto for your quick reply
Hope to have SFO and Zurich in the next AES version

Yes, of course. And the next update too (the one with the new Terminal B). Only the 3rd update, the big graphic makeover, for FSX only, will be payware, but there will be an upgrade price for all customers.

Hello!

When are you going to make the new terminal B available? It is opened since 1st December.

When we are finished doing it. It will be announced here when it's ready. We don't have an exact release date, but should be around the end of the year.

We just released a big free update for KORD, which was long overdue (much longer than Zurich), but that should be enough proof that we finally deliver what we promise, unfortunately, no software gets ever released *precisely* on time, which is why it's best to give just a general idea of the timeframe, rather than exact dates.

I'm a little confused!  I have first addition Zurch.  I note there is a rebuild Zurich 2.0, which tells me to uninstall first, and then install Version 2.0.  I see now there is the new terminal patch Version 2.5  So looking at Products page I can no longer download Version 2.0, just Version 2.5

Do I simply uninstall and install Version 2.5 and all is well?

Both the Products page and the Zurich Info page shows version 2.5, and that's what the current installer release is. You just uninstall the old one, and install the new one using the full installer, there's no patch.

Hello!

I'm back again in FSX, after a lot of family reason (2 childrens...) and so I will reinstall my FSDT sceneries.

I own a licence for first version, so can I use it for the last version? (2.5
If not, where can I download version 2.0?

thanks
