This is ridiculous!................ ridiculously GOOD!!! In another note, I was wondering how many more previews before the final product? I have to say I've never ever waited so anxiously for something for the FSX as much as I have for this. I hope you are happy!! >:(

There's actually still a large portion to be done. You wouldn't want the product NOW. They haven't modeled like the entire cargo area on the south side of the airport. If you look at the first picture, the south side is scarce. There's still a bit to be done.

Excellent! One thing I love about Fsdt, is how well it looks with other sceneries, like MegaScenery X. I'm really enjoying Fsdt McCarran in combination with MegaScenery X Las Vegas, and US Cities Las Vegas, and UTUSA. It really comes together nicely, and it's a beautiful sight day or night as you are coming down for the approach.  I'm sure LAX will be the same way, and can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I guess that means a July release is unlikely.   :(

I'd say October...just in time for Christmas and the retail businesses busy season! :D  Let's not forget Imperial Hill & In n' Out Burger!!!

Wow, this is really comming along nicely.

Doesn't look like it will be long now, I cant wait to give it a shot.

It would be funny if it and the NGX released on the same day, that would be some kind of sim overload.

I'd say October...just in time for Christmas

FSDT has always averaged three or four products per year, so nine months for LAX seems excessive.  If I'd known it would be that long, I'd have bought the throwaway version from BP as a pacifier.

Couple thoughts: How are they getting those God rays in pic 8? Am wondering how the vatsim controllers for Socal/LAX are going to handle us using the new Intl terminal with taxiways even though they dont even have ground charts for them yet? Should be interesting times online once this is out.

I thought they confirmed there would be an FS9 version (although this will be the last, not including the Hawaii series) but for the first time, it may be released later than the FSX release.  Or am I completely making that up? :D

They definitely stated this will be the last for fs9 and it will be released FSX then fs9
but it did seem like a little hesitation in saying that but dont take my word for it, I've moved on and am prepping my OC and specs to get ready for KLAX FSX!

That's default FSX Light Bloom, since the scenery it's 100% FSX native code and DX10 compatible, you can use the more fps friendly Light Bloom in DX10.

No, we don't retouch screenshots...the scenery doesn't need it.

Yes, but it was also said that if it looked worse than the C9 version, they wouldn't release it.

I believe he is right, he was referring to what we who live near LAX the south side runways/Cargo complex even though picture 1 is looking east about 40 degrees. while yes we do see the north side predominately u can see in the distance that the "South end of the airport has not been completed

I'm not surprised.  In fact, because the roads were so empty, a car would have been the fastest.  But it still would have been fun for me to take the hop back and forth for only $8-10.  I wouldn't have taken the flight because I wanted to get across the city quickly...more for the fun of it and it is a rare flight.

Well, I don't know if it's to late but I urge the FSDT developers to check out this YouTube channel and look at all the videos of the landings and takeoff's at LAX from a ground point of view. It could help you in touching up some ground details, i.e, grass, shrubs, runways, taxiway signs, etc. Please do so as it will most defiantly help!

Bruce,
I've tried that, but if you're a fan of autogen the BP kills it around the airport. As such I reverted to the C9 and anxiously await FSDT..

I would prefer to have scenery that has the correct amount of buildings placed in it so I can turn autogen to normal or off, but I only know of one developer who does that, and it definitely isn't BP.  I use the C9 version in FS9, and won't remove it until I see the FS9 version from FSDT.

You can do better?

Although I am NOT SURPRISED after reading your last few comments. :-)

Man How long does it take to get KLAX done this is way to long. I hope they don't go out of business...

To be honest it looks good but they are taking way to long on this project just my opinion

Another thing if they were almost done with LAX they would have posted more pics.

Yeah This company is going to take a while to this  LAX I thought they would be done by now in the mean time they could have done a smaller airport while they were working on LAX.

Maybe you should change your user name from "goodperson36" to "impatientperson36" or "hard_to_please_person36"

Why don't you try building an airport of this magnitude yourself and we'll see if it's done any better looking or quicker than what FSDT has done. Most likely we would all say NOT IMPRESSED.

Personally I think this is one of the best looking airports I have ever seen anyone done yet, especially considering it wont bring your FPS to levels that basically make it almost unusable. I'd say that this is like the PMDG NGX of airports considering the techniques they are using.

Do not release LAX until you have a better picture of the gate/taxiway structures on that new Bradley international terminal. I rather wait longer to get this one right. The look of LAX will change dramatically once the new terminals are done.

Thanks,

We'll release KLAX when it's ready, the new Bradley terminal is not due before the end of the year anyway so, we can't obviously delay a finished scenery just to get better pictures of it. We'll have to updated it anyway, when new charts will be published when the terminal goes into operation.

No one is saying you can't speak your mind.. But coming into forums like this and ripping FSDT guys a new arse and saying you can do better yadda yadda shows you're real arrogance...  If you're so hot SH*^ at desinging scenery.. do it....  They say June, life happens, they also just released additional Hawaii scenery.  Besides, what is complaining going to do...?  You think because of your attitude they'll finish it up tonight and release it just for you..?  Sorry Princess the world doesn't revolve around you..  Don't buy it if it gets your panties this tangled...  But coming into their forums and berrating them and whining it isn't done yet to the supporters who could care less of the delay (it'll make the scenery that much better) is the last thing you should do.  BTW- go and research what a "PUN" is.. you either just embarrased yourself or made a half assed attempt at a PUN stating the programmers/supporters (I can't tell) on here don't know anything.

I know i also have a newbie status, but if you look under "goodperson"36 it says NEWBIE, and what do you expect, these guys here are probably the best scenery designers in the flight simulator community and they're trying to go where no developer has gone before...again.... which is awesome! My guess is that opinions will change once FSDT releases the demon on our FS's ;)

Pot calling the kettle black...  I don't post up on this forum everytime I have a thought.   However I own every scenery FSDT/Cloud 9 have released and check these forums for updates etc periodically.  Besides that I frequent other forums and really am sick of seeing the same people posting stuff bout being mad at scenery, aircraft, etc designers for NOT abiding by their personal needs...  The selfishness on these flightsim forums is astonishing...  But I think we are all now waiting to see what scenery you will release, since according to you you can produce better than FSDT... hop to it

That's what happens when you jump on a forum, not knowing what is happening, and start spouting not very nice comments! Maybe in the future you should just read and see what is going on!

We started FSDT in November 2007, which is exactly 44 months now.

During this period, we released 11 products (they are all in the main page for everyone to see), with two of them (Hawaii 1 and 2) having two airports each, for a total of 12 airports and 1 utility and KLAX will be released shorty, which means 13 airports in 45 months.

That's averages a new airport each 3.4 months. It's nice how mathematics never lies...

Yes, KLAX is taking longer than anything else, but it will be well worth the wait.

And your point is?   ;D

I can fly to it with any aircraft in my hangar, but the default 737 and 747 are my aircraft of choice for commercial flights.  There is more than enough activity on the flight deck to be immersive, and they are supported by It's Your Plane, besides which I've never been a fan of purchasing payware just to replace a default version.  I'd rather buy something not already in my hangar.

What's the traditional payday in the US ? Is there such thing as a traditional payday, or every working situation is different ?

In Italy, since the XIXth century, the payday has always been the 27th of every month, and I believe is still valid for those employed by the government. We even have a Saint named after it, "St. Paganino" (Paga=Pay in Italian), even if he's not a real saint of course, it's basically a word joke...

Traditionally, commercial activities take this into account when releasing a product or launching new promotions, etc. I was wondering if other countries, and especially the US, have a similar thing.

In the United States, it is quite common for a pay period to be about two weeks with the pay day being on a Friday.

You should definitely try out the "Leonardo Maddog" if you don't already have it and if you are a heavy metal fan like me. The MD80's are not in the standard fsx hangar and it will keep you entertained and busy for the next 10 to 20 years(rough assumption) as the plane is so complex. ;D
At the beginning of my Maddog career I could not get the engines running without getting a hot start. And don't forget that beautiful Douglas stabilizer motion warning :D.

Umberto, a payday in the U.S. is usually one of four options:

1. Bi-monthly (twice a month) paid on usually the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month.

2. Every two weeks, paid usually on a Friday.  With this method, you usually get paid twice a month, except for two months out of the year, you get 3 paychecks in a month.  (<-- This is how I get paid.  My extra paychecks come in July and December this year.)  This is just due to how it works out with 5 Fridays in the month and the first check coming on the 1st of the month, the 2nd on the third week, and the 3rd on the fifth week.  The Friday you get paid varies by the company, as well.  As in, this Friday is not my payday, but it is my girlfriend's payday.

3. Weekly, again usually paid on a Friday, but not uncommon for the day to be a Thursday or even a Wednesday (or maybe some other day).  Usually weekly paid jobs are those who work as temps and in places like fast food, etc...

4. Monthly.  In a lot of government jobs, monthly pay is an option.  You can choose to to receive it all in one payment if you do it this way, or elect to receive it twice a month, in which you'll receive half a payment on the 1st, and the other half on the 15th.

As you can see, there's nothing standard about it, lol.  I guess if you're trying to take payday into account, it'd be best to release on a Friday (definitely), possibly around the beginning or middle of the month.  That'd probably suit almost everybody.

I disagree.  Those who are living check by check many times cannot afford to spend money on a non-essential like an FS Scenery unless its close to their payday when they have fresh funds in their pocket they can commit to it.  Otherwise, inevitably, those funds get allocated elsewhere, and they wind up having to wait until next check (again, a payday).  Just because other companies follow this practice, doesn't mean it would diminish someone's liklihood of purchasing theirs.  Companies have that mind-set for a reason--it works.

FSDT has never held back a scenery that was ready to release, Hawaii 2 being a good example.  Final screen shots in the WIP thread one day, released the next.

Would also be quite a bad idea, from a business point-of-view...

Honestly I can't see any reason why you would do that...
It costs money (and time - lots of it) to develop a scenery of this magnitude! So to have a completed scenery which isn't released, would mean no sales = no income...

Wouldn't make much sense, honestly...

Just my 2c!

What I see is this. With LAX coming out, you now have the shortest distance between FSDT sceneries, in the KLAX-KLAS run. The NGX coming out is just icing on the cake. But as far as FSDT is concerned, they could offer a special; buy KLAX, get x% off of KLAS.

It will be FSDT's fault if I don't have any money left in my account by the time LAX is out. I've waited and waited, and all I do is buy add-ons here and there, and some of them are not even worth it. I am sooooo sad right now is not even funny.

that is the WORST excuse I have ever heard

Please clarify.

It's been said there is no such thing as a dumb question....... but these types of questions and statements are getting real irritating. I wouldn't be opposed one bit to locking the forum to new posts. When LAX is released reopen it for tech support.

you guys take everything too seriously. Forums are the virtual corners where you meet with your 'friends' to chant about whatever and if you think that by posting "nagging" comments Umberto will say" alright I am tired of this, I am releasing it!" my dear friend you are so wrong. And I was just making a point of the fact that waiting isn't fun, and that I am so excited that this is coming out soon, but the fact that we still have to wait isn't that great. AND, I could post something that will really irritate you if I wanted to but I won't, but maybe I will. Thank you, and just a word of advised, this is a simulator at the end of the day, nothing is real, even though looks real. Goodbye.

Just as I said above, we do not need anymore irritating comments. Try and keep this forum at the MATURE level.

Maybe just about everyone of you could use that advise. Everytime someone makes a reply, someone is there to jump up in his/her face! I'll probably get jumped on for this one!!!!!

Incredible picture; count me in!

I was looking forward to flying the NGX to KLAX a lot but with its fps consumption in the vc (which is understandable considering its enormous depth and detail, let alone beauty) I am not sure I will be able to. Well unless I get a new computer... which I would love to do...

Anyone good with building computers/specs? The only thing that I know I want is the i7 2600K. What else?

I now I am in the vast minority, but I think In-N-Out burgers are the most overhyped and overated burgers and/or fast food of all time. Living in Socal for about 6 years I went to In-N-Out maybe 4 or 5 times top and never though it was that great or that tasty to be honest.

I live in New York and I feel the same way about Shake Shack. I think it's good but I don't think that it's the best burger in the world. But I have only heard great things about In-N-Out though...  :D

Not only that but it ain't worth it to wait it the drive thru for 45 min for their horrable fries...

I can take detailed pictures of In N Out and "The Parking Spot" behind it if needed.

Yep, that's why I said I am in the minority. I just don't care for it much.

Too be honest the best hamburger I ever had was at Wolf Creek Ski resort in Colorado. They use grass feed beef and with the way they grill it and prepare it, it out of this world for a hamburger. Way better than In-N-Out or any other fastfood place I have been and of course way better than the monkey meat McDonalds uses :-)

Not only that but it ain't worth it to wait it the drive thru for 45 min for their horrable fries...

Yeah I forgot about that as well. They just opened one in Dallas not far from me and they said on the news the wait was about 45 min to 1 hour wait and they had to have police to direct traffic. There's just not any fast food that I am willing to wait that long for.

Wow 45 mins for fast food! They eat and love fast food so much they can't wait to  get in line to have something new even though it is the same thing from a different hole in the wall.

I hope to see it though in the scenery!

I don't know why you guys are saying its a 45 minute wait when its nowhere near that, maybe drive-thru takes a little long but A. look at the size of that drive thru B. I go there once a week and never wait more than 15 minutes during lunch, why? well because im not that lazy and get out of my car, and C. It's a last stop and first stop for many travelers wanting In N out, so why don't you eat somewhere else if you don't have time to hear planes roar by or enjoy a sunny CA afternoon with a burger at hand and LAX traffic overhead.

P.S. Sorry for the rant but this topic is way off topic!

In-N-Out burgers are OK but the fries are excellent and modestly priced...plus the view, yes the view!

Btw...if you enter the restaurant, you will get your food within 10-15 minutes not 45 as stated.

It's not that far off topic..beats having to answer questions about a release date we all know is soon upon us.... Oh I'm not that lazy either, I have a FAA 1st Class medical I have to maintain, just prefer not to pump my system full of grease, so I do eat somewhere else and I usually don't have time. I'm sometimes part of that LAX traffic. Next time I fly the approach to 24R which will be in a week or so I'll have my FO wave as we go by...

Just look at this: In n Out Allen,TX opening day....

My friend was on the line and trust me it was more like 3 hours than 45 minutes....

To be honest, I come from France but visit the US every year.... In N' Out burgers are not the best in the world of course but if you compare them to others fast food restaurant (Mc Donald's, Burger King, Carl's Jr), they are really better... And their fries are also excellent....

Each time, I come to the US, a double-double is a ritual! I'm glad that they are expending east...

btw, to come back to FSDT KLAX: was it announced yet if the scenery will be available or not for FS9?

You ski or snowboard Junior?

Yeah the resort if you want to call it that isn't much to look at, neither is Pagosa or South Fork, but for pure skiing quality, I think it one of the best places to ski in Colorado, not to mention they usually get more snow that anyone else. I've skiied just about everywhere in Colorado, except Aspen, and I think between the terrain, lack of a crowd, snow conditions, terrain (especially the stuff on the east side), makes it one of the best kept secrets in Co. I do like Steamboat, Winter Park, Telluride, and even A-basin, but I hate the crowds.

Actually one of my favs from when I lived in Cali was Kirkwood, Squaw Valley and Mammoth, but since I live in Dallas now I hardley ever make it out that way.

Uh dude, on a regualr daily baises I see that line of cars strech arround the block all the way on to Westchester Pkwy. One of the first things people do when they land and get a car/taxi is go for the IN N OUT burger. The wait inside is just as bad and that's IF you can find a place to park. You have been going at a good hour for only 15 mins..

I guess I was rather lucky when I was there (assuming the In-n-Out on Sepulveda). Went there twice over a weekend in June.. I was able to park there without any issues, in the afternoon, order, and get my order within 10 minutes. Of course, I went outside to eat with my scanner in tow.

Oh.. and about the fries... Most fries anyone eats are generally from Russett potatoes.. Those are the same as your normal baked or mashed potatoes.. starchy, and rather bland.. In-n-Out uses Kennebec potatoes, which give them that different taste that you'd get compared to a Carl's Jr., McDonald's (McDonald's fries taste the same EVERYWHERE, including overseas), Jack in the Box, Wendy's, etc. I haven't found a potato anywhere else that tastes the same as a Kennebec.

Yes, I'm a foodie.  ;D

For those who don't know. Umberto is in a band and we have asked him (and his band) to perform a song to go with the LAX release. We all fully expect him to comply with said request.  ;D

I also expect the song to come with the KLAX download! Virtuali can add 25 cents to the LAX total so he can say he made money on the hit single!! ;)

Good question. Prior to KDFW being released we were speculating on that and I guessed that it would be the theme song from the t.v. show Dallas and it ended up being that. I haven't given much thought to a theme song for KLAX though, but I will have to think about it.

Hi Umberto,

I know the plane is not flying anymore but there are still lots of fans out there. So, in LAX, would it be possible that the Concorde be recognized in your "Park me" feature?
It would be nice in any of your other sceneries too.
Thanks for your consideration,

Well, it's not something really tied to the scenery, we could add it in any moment just by updating the Addon Manager/Couatl programs, and it would automatically become available at all our sceneries (and, after GSX is released, to all FSX airports), we might think about it.

Hi Umberto, thanks for the recent updates (KORD) and Turkey discounts. I just bought 2 new airports. Any chance of updating the Addon Manager/Couatl programs to accommodate Concorde with "Parkme"? No pressure, but it would be great.
