Title: SF Carrier 2.5 (released)
Post by: Orion on December 15, 2010, 11:28:14 am
This is an update to my SF Carrier 2 mission and requires that you have the original SF Carrier 2 mission, along with Javier Fernandez's Nimitz installed.  A full installer is in the works.  This package includes no automated uninstaller, so please refer to the uninstallation section of the readme if you wish to uninstall.

Also note that the PDF documentation still reflects the original SF Carrier 2 mission and may or may not be representative of this update.  It is provided for reference only.  If anything differs between it and the readme, the readme takes precedence.

Many thanks to J.R. (neutrino) for his help in testing and his suggestions, and Steven Frost for creating the graphics along with checking my code in the updater.

Hi Orion and thanks so much for the 2.5. I have been flying the mission up to the Bingo call and I don't see any tanker in the air for refueling...Is there anything I am missing? My refueling gauge is working fine, I am using Sludge's version of F/A-18.
Thanks for your help and advice.

Hi Orion,

Forget my question above, I found the 737...
Is there a possibility to see that plane though in the refueling gauge list like one of the AI?
Thanks again,

Johan

Mickey: You're welcome :).

Johan: Unfortunately, there are limitations on the traffic that the refueling gauge picks up, and AI planes in a multiplayer mission appears to be one of them.  Although, if all you need is help navigating to the 737 tanker, you can turn on the Mission compass, if it isn't on already, and cycle the pointer so it's set to the Tanker POI.

Thanks Orion, the mission compass is the key. Great mission, can't wait for the 3.0 release :)

That wasn't it, unfortunately.  And that's not from SF Carrier 2.5 either.

Thread resurrected. Orion, I recently got a new PC and installed SF Carrier 2 followed by the 2.5 update. However every time I try to fly it with a friend I get a "SimScheduler.dll" fatal error when the load bar gets to 100%. I tried to have my friend host and he got the exact same error. Any idea what could be causing this?

Have you modified or removed the default Boeing 737? Is Javier's Nimitz installed properly?

If neither of those are the issue, try disabling the dll.xml and exe.xml files.

I removed ALL of the default aircraft except the Ultralight  ::)

I guess now I at least know where to start troubleshooting when I get home.  Thanks for the heads up, I'll let you know how it goes.

Any way to port this mission over to P3D v2.5??? manually or a updated p3d installer?

No; the mission was designed for FSX Acceleration and Lockheed Martin has changed the mission system in Prepar3D, so I don't know if it'll be compatible, even with a manual install.

If you wish to fly multiplayer carrier ops in Prepar3D, I'd advise use of AICarriers2r2 (https://web.archive.org/web/20100802075258/http://lc0277.nerim.net/wiki/index.php?software) or AI Carriers .NET (http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,11293.0.html), as Prepar3D will synchronize boat type AI SimObjects over multiplayer without any workarounds.

I actually had it working until the P3D hot fixes. I manually installed the mission into P3D. it asked to find the the resources for the mission. I pointed it to the mission in the FSX missions folder. it loads the mission but doesnt load the carrier. it worked with the v2.5 hotfix 1 but broken in hotfix 2,3, and now 4.

Other than making sure Javier Fernandez's USS Nimitz installed properly (http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fname=uss_nimitz_ike_version2.zip), I'm not sure what to suggest.  It's likely that Lockheed Martin made some change in a recent hotfix that breaks backwards compatibility with missions designed for FSX Acceleration.  As stated previously, I recommend using a utility such as AICarriers2r2 or AI Carriers .NET, as Prepar3D synchronizes boats over multiplayer.

Tried using AIcarriers in multiplayer with a couple friends. The carrier still doesnt show for any of us.  In single player offline everything is fine. Only online is porked :(

Have all of you installed the boat you're trying to use?  I don't think AI boats will be substituted like the user aircraft if someone doesn't have the same boat installed.

OK , when we were testings. we were using the v2.5 hotfix 3 which ends in 945. I just updated to hotfix 4 which end in 946. its the current update. With the 945 hotfix we were not able to see the carrier when we placed it in the sim. Now I updated to 946 hotfix. hosted a freeflight session. i was able to place the carrier in the sim and was able to see it. I did a few cats and traps with no problem. Then I reverted back to the 945 hotfix and could see the carrier again. so looks like the 946 hotfix I'm able to see and use the carrier. I still need test it with my friends to see if it works for them in 946 and see if the carriers are synced up. Just an update. Still wasnt able to see the carrier using the SF carrier mission in 946. so thats still broken.

Got it working.. was able to get it to work. I joined a hosted game.. once in game and in the pit. I started AIcarriers and placed it in game. we were all able to see the carrier and trap :-)
