Title: Low intensity flood lighting at A & B gates
Post by: AFlyer on December 05, 2020, 04:58:14 pm
Hi

First of all I would like to mention that the modelling of Zurich airport is beautiful. Thanks for your addon.
But one issue I feel hampering the immersion a bit is that the flood lighting at Docks A & B are of low intensity. Second thing I felt a bit unusual is the low height of the flood lamp masts at B gates.I referred to some real life pics of the airport and I realised that indeed the lamps are placed a bit lower in the modelled airport than its in real life due to which the flood lights illuminate a very small area of the ground. It is not able to illuminate even the full length of an parked aircraft brightly which is not the case in general. I have attached 2 real life pics of the airport of B gates which shows the proper height at which the flood lights are placed. I feel the height at which flood lights are placed should be increased a bit more by increasing the height of the lamp masts and definitely the intensity of the flood lights should also be increased to make the apron look more vibrant and realistic.
At A gates, the height of the lamp masts are perfect, just increase in intensity of the flood lamps would make it look awesome.
Large international airports like this generally has brightly lit aprons/stands and especially when modelling such night lighting realistically is now possible in the new sim, I feel that brightly lit aprons as in reality is highly desired and infact many other airport addons has this nicely done. I am sure what I have said above is not a much difficult tweaking and I hope that u could also implement that in the next update.

Thanks

They aren't. They are a realistic representation of what a *pilot* would see using its *naked eye*, which is very different from what you see on pictures/videos, since video cameras overcompensate for night, resulting in completely blown out highlights, which is not what you see as a human.

Yes, this is true, they should be higher indeed, we'll fix them as soon as possible.

Hi

Thanks for ur reply. Yes, I agree with you and infact I didn't post those 2 pics for comparing the intensity of lights in real life rather for comparing the height of the flood lamp masts at those gates. I understand that the night shots are over exposed.
I just observed that the illumination at E gates are much brighter and looks realistic/beautiful and it isn't the same at A & B gates in the modelled airport. Maybe, its true to life but it was just my humble opinion that a little increase in intensity or a slight increase in radius of illumination of the flood lights would have made atleast the entire length of the aircrafts parked at all those gates illuminated properly (particularly B gates) and then it would certainly look much better and natural.

Thanks
