Hello team, I did a piece of scenery work to compliment the approach into PHOG on Maui and decided to re-create the Sugar Mill at Puunene as its quite prominent and there is visual approach named after it "Smoke Stack approach for Rwy 2.
Given this was the last operating mill in Hawaii (closed closed Dec 2016) after 130 years I couldn't resist bringing it back to life again for P3DV4.
The scenery works fine in my P3dV4 rig , although I was after a couple of volunteers to test it, before posting to one of the popular freeware sites I guess.
I don't do that much scenery dev work although have several pieces that all work across FSX and earlier P3D versions - basic models , photoreal and effects - including this one.
Anyway if anyone is interested I'd look at the first few pms and send you the scenery.

SUre would love to have this, but the scenery in general is messed up?

Messed up how? What do you mean?

The scenery works fine and is now available at AVSIM.
Have fun "crossing the mill" stabilized at 500ft on finals to PHOG Kahului, Maui.

Hello ciae985,
It is now mid 2020 and yours is the gift that keeps on giving. Works perfectly in P3Dv4.5 and it really adds to the PHOG 02 approach. Thanks.

Works fine in v5HF2 also! Thanks so much for doing this freeware -- I agree with everybody that it adds significantly to the approach. Here is one question I have been wondering about -- is the smoke/stream coming out of the stack supposed to follow the current winds or is it hardcoded to one direction only? This is nothing negative about the scenery!!
Regards,
P.

Memories
As a young man back in the 1970'e Myself (Dorn Cranert) and Jimmy Domingis spent an entire summer painting the Sugar Mill as workers for the Wally Endo Painting company---Just the two of us who made up his industrial painting crew.
Later while working on Oahu as a High School Teacher in the late 1970's I also flew small Piper Cherokee's to Maui and made many, many approaches over the mill---I have, over the years told,a million people about flying over the mill that I also painted

Glad to hear people are enjoying the scenery and sharing some good memories as well ! Haven't visited the forums for quite a while, and just happened to drop in.
pdge : the smoke effects are not hardcoded and should follow the wind - which for most of the time on Maui will be from the NE trade wind direction.
Are many of you flying MSFS2020 ?
I really think this scenery should be translated into MSFS2020 don't you ;)
Stay tuned.

MSFS version now available on avsim. Just search Puunene scenery or click this link : https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=msfs20scen&DLID=219254 (https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=msfs20scen&DLID=219254)
Gave the smoke stacks a little sprucing up. No smoke effects yet as effects generally are WIP with SDK etc. (Although the real stacks have no smoke any longer of course).
