Title: PMDG 777-300ER support **ADDED**
Post by: A51Rene on July 18, 2014, 08:54:19 pm
Dear all,

Can we expect support for the PMDG 777-300ER when it releases later today? Or do we have to configure it ourselves?

Thanks in advance! ;)

If they haven't changed their custom variables for the doors, it should be quite easy to create a configuration for it, starting from the one that comes for the -200 version, at least until we add it.

Thanks for the fast reply, Umberto!

I have tried to configure the 300ER, but the whole procedure is not very user friendly.
(Although I hate comparisons, it only took a few minutes to configure the AES-side of things for the jetways & pushback)

But I manages to make some progress:
- The 300ER uses the same custom door variables as the 200LR/F
- I copied the 200LR/F config to the 300ER folder and stared editing it from that point.

However, I can't seem to figure out a way to enable 3 or 4 catering trucks as shown on this image (http://puu.sh/ahnq5/dda1a78103.jpg)

Is there somebody who has a fitting 'gsx.cfg' file for the 300ER?  :)

I really can't see how you could call GSX not user-friendly, and it shouldn't take any more than a few minutes for any airplane, even if GSX has more options compared to AES, which doesn't support service doors, it always mirrors them and doesn't support the concept of supporting the airplane custom variable to check the doors, doesn't work in full screen and forces you to go back and forth between the AES window and the FSX window. Are you sure you checked the graphical editor ? It's possible you are using only the first dialog screen in GSX, the one that requires you entering numbers ?

Then it shouldn't really take any time, you simply need to move some doors around.

Since you have only 2 service doors to configure, you can only have 2 catering vehicles.

Thanks hendopow for sharing those numbers!
I have tried them, but now I get 'Catering unavailable for this aircraft' and no stairs at exit L5.

Umberto, thanks for your assistance.
Off course, the GSX configuration is miles ahead in terms of options. I only feel that AES is a bit easier to complete and I did use the 3D editor, but I'll leave it at that.

Then it shouldn't really take any time, you simply need to move some doors around.
Yes, that is a bit of a relief. I'm just struggling with the issue I described above...

Since you have only 2 service doors to configure, you can only have 2 catering vehicles.
Would it be possible to include the extra doors with their catering trucks in an update, when time permits?
Maybe together with an extra belt-loader for the bulk hold on the 777?

Sorry for forgetting that:

C:\Users\<Your Name>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\PMDG 777-300ER\gsx.cfg

This path is also mentioned in the GSX manual (page 27, aircraft configuration). There is some great info in there, gotta love manuals ;)

Hello all,

 I spent some time working on this, this morning.

[aircraft]
nosegear = 25.87
refueling = 0

[exit1]
pos = -2.63 25.52 0.88 13.00
code = (L:7X7XCabinDoor1L,number)
name = L Entry 1

[exit2]
pos = -1.30 15.49 2.07 0.00
code = (L:7X7XCabinDoor2L,number)
name = L Entry 2

[exit3]
remove = 1

[exit4]
pos = -2.64 -26.08 1.05 -8.00
code = (L:7X7XCabinDoor5L,number)
name = L Entry 5

[service1]
pos = 3.03 14.97 1.08 0.00
code = (L:7X7XCabinDoor2R,number)
name = R Entry 2

[service2]
pos = 2.54 -26.41 1.07 8.00
code = (L:7X7XCabinDoor5R,number)
name = R Entry 5

[cargo1]
pos = 1.50 20.22 -0.90 0.00
code = (L:7X7XforwardcargoDoor,number)
name = FWD Cargo
uldcode = AKE

[cargo2]
pos = 1.50 -18.78 -0.94 0.00
code = (L:7X7XaftcargoDoor,number)
name = AFT Cargo
uldcode = AKE

Many of the variables were based of the ones provided by hendopow with a few adjustments here and there. I also added the variables for the doors so it will with the FMC door assignments. All you have to do is copy and past the lines above into gsx.cfg for the 777-300ER and your good to go.

Enjoy!

it works fine, in my case the gsx.cfg file is situated in : C:\Users\<Your Name>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\PMDG 777-300ER, just overwrite the one existing already and it should go smoothly

Just a quick question. Is it possible to add a bulk bag loader with the two other loader?

This has been discussed and answered many times already: GSX supports only 2 cargo loaders in total. Can't see if it will possible to support more in the future, perhaps with the Cargo expansion we'll release in the following months.

Could anyone explain this in further detail? I have no "Airplanes" folder in my Virtuali. Only an empty "GSX" folder and some "Couatl" files.

I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi,

I've just got Lisbon V2 from Aerosoft and when I try to park the a/c it gives me gate 146 only.
I check with MS for parking heavies and there is also 147,412,415 and 422. How comes these positions do not show with GSX?

As explained many times already on the forum, and of course on the manual, the "Heavy" designation doesn't mean anything. You can designed a parking as Heavy and set it as small to fit a Cessna only. What's counts is ONLY the parking radius set by the developer. GSX compares this against your wingspan, to indicate a parking is too small for you.

And of course, as explained on the GSX manual too, you can customize this using the GSX included parking customization feature, that will allow you to override the radius set in the scenery by the scenery developer, if you believe it was set too low for that parking. The small airplane icon on the GSX editor will automatically set a parking to be large enough for the airplane you are flying.

Support for the 777-300 is there with the latest GSX Live Update.

IMPORTANT: Remove any GSX.CFG you have in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Airplanes\PMDG 777-300ER folder, if you added it before this update.

You can further customize the airplane using the GSX editor, but it's important you remove any unofficial GSX.CFG file you might have had already, otherwise it will take precedence on the internal GSX data, which adds support to check the additional ground connections (air start, gpu, chocks, etc.).

How do I actually make door number 2 as door number 1 for GSX?

I've tried change door number 2 from L Entry 2 to L Entry 1 (vice versa for door number 1) then I click save. But I still get the message "open door number 1" but then I go  back to the GSX customize aircraft and passenger door #2 still has the name L Entry 2.

You can't change just the door's name and expect it will work, that's just a label, you must exchange the XML custom expression too. Read this thread here:

I have read that, but simply creating a "PMDG 777-300ER" folder and putting that data into a "gsx.cfg" named file hasn't worked.

I have read that, but simply creating a "PMDG 777-300ER" folder and putting that data into a "gsx.cfg" named file hasn't worked.

That's because nobody said you "simply" put a GSX.CFG in that folder. That's JUST your starting point. You will THEN have to edit the doors to move them according to the different airplane size.

But this is outdated info and it was meaningful only as a temporary solution to explain how you could create a configuration yourself, without waiting for the official support.

As you can see from my previous message, the PMDG B777-300ER IS now OFFICIALLY supported in GSX with the latest Live Update. In this case, as I've said in my previous message and as also indicated in the Live Update release notes, if you already put a GSX.CFG file BEFORE the update, you must REMOVE IT now:

Quote
IMPORTANT: Remove any GSX.CFG you have in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Airplanes\PMDG 777-300ER folder, if you added it before this update.

It's not possible you would get that message with an airplane, and not another. That message is related only to the parking itself, and (as explained on the GSX manual Page 23 ), indicates you were at a parking set by the scenery developer with a Pushback preference to "None", and this can of course be customized using the GSX parking customization option, to override the pushback preferences set in the scenery.
